    No. No he's not.

He'd be an upgrade to our talent but like someone else said, it doesn't make sense to throw that much more money at the PF/C position. IMO.

...and what if the world cam crashing down tomorrow and took out the whole team? Should we buy another team just incase? You can't spend so much money on an insurance center, especially when you're committed to yao already. At this point Yao is being taken care off too well to have another stress injury...he may have a complete accident, but so can anyone else at any given time, you can't spend 11 mill to insure that. How can he be slow to recover to play half a game? They've already decided to limit him the whole year if needed, meaning that he's well enough now to at least do that.

Also, the mismatches go both ways. Nene isn't a real center and is foul prone. He can't be a necessity on a team with 6 players who cover his two spots and take up nearly all the minutes.

Randolph can fill in at C. Why not. This gives us a highly Mobile option when both Yao and Miller are off the court. I like it.

i believe they tried to play randolph at center on the warriors and his production was reduced (at least his stats were, i had him on my fantasy team last season)

He probably won't play any center unless it's absolutely necessary. He will play mostly at the 4 and 3 sparingly, unless they decide to start him. This would actually be a good thing for Battier as far as having to play as much. Having an almost fresh Battier in the 4th quarter would be perfect.
Whether you all know it or not, getting Anthony Randolph now is that superstar move that we all have been looking for. He's just disguised as a young knucklehead who couldn't get along with his last(senile)coach. IMO, Randolph is the next Kevin Garnett and he's only 21! Anyway, enough of that. As far as adding him to this already loaded at the 4 team, thats a good problem. Right? ;)
If we don't get him.....won't miss him.

No offense, but the "opportunity cost" of replacing Scola in the starting lineup with Anthony Randolph would be just too great.

    Randolph's raw athletic ability >>> Scola's

    BUT

    Scola >>> Randolph

In the context of the Rockets' wanting to keep Patterson over Hill?

    I'll tell you why.

FACT: Even with Jordan Hill on the roster (along with Chuck Hayes, Jared Jeffries, Alexander Johnson and the firm belief that they would retain Luis Scola), the Rockets drafted Patrick Patterson to play PF.

FACT: Daryl Morey attempted to trade up in the draft THREE TIMES (to #9, to #10 and to #12) in order to draft Patrick Patterson, only to be elated that he fell into the Rockets' lap at #14.

FACT: The Rockets' front office folks (Morey, Gersson Rosas, etc.) were more demonstratively excited (there was a live camera feed when the Raptors picked Ed Davis at #13, at which point the whole war room erupted in excitement) about acquiring Patrick Patterson in the draft than they had been for any draft pick since Yao Ming in 2002.

Neither Patterson nor Hill has shown much of anything to prove themselves; but then again, Randolph has only shown some flashes (including a dominant summer league performance in 2009). NONE of those guys has proven themselves to be a "special" player. It's just that Randolph has a slightly larger body of work on which to base such an assumption.

But if I had to pick one of those three NOT to have on the team, it would be Hill.

I don't see what the problem is with that. It seems to be fairly consistent with what Morey evidently believes.

Considering Randolph can play limited minutes at the 3 and Scola has proven that he can cause problems for defenses when we go small and he slides to the 5, there are a ton of lineups where both Scola and Randolph would be on the floor at the same time. Randolph also provides a shot blocking presence that we are missing.

I don't see the issue with bringing him in for one of our 1st rounders. He will start off the bench and if he proves to be the talent we hope him to be, he gets more PT and Scola becomes expendable (We can still trade him in his prime).
