He's one of the best coaches in the league. If there's a way, why not.

It it was a choice between Phil Jackson and Larry Brown, I would take Brown.

That is about the only case in which I would want that vagabond schemer here.

"Success" like two consecutive first round losses, and the worst game 7 loss in NBA history?

Even if JVG is the antichrist would you advocate giving Yao 3 different coaches starting his 4th NBA season with almost zero players he's been on the floor with for more than a year?

T-Mac and Yao are very pro-JVG and Stro's agent singled JVG out in the decision-making process. And you want to seriously interject Brown here?

I wanted Brown over JVG, and I think he got "Rudy'd" in Detroit (health fears, wandering mind) but bringing in Brown in now is the worst thing we can possibly do (other than trade T-Mac or Yao, of course).

We're gonna get KG for expiring contracts? Quick, someone start a new thread! j/k, but I did daydream about TMac/KG/Yao for a couple of minutes. Man, we'd run out of space in the Toyota Center to hang our championship banners. If you don't mind me stealing it from you R2K, I'm officially calling this one my personal pipedream, I'd love to watch those three play together :) Come on KG, it's time to mouth off to management and get yourself traded to Houston!

One championship with 7 teams and 22 years of NBA coaching, hardly a stellar record. I don't know if the press reports about him were true, negotiating with the Cavs during the playoffs but if they are then the Pistons should have dumped him.

I would call "success" continued improvement from year to year after five years stagnant growth.

I would call "success" taking a team from 40+ wins to one of 50+

I would call "success" taking a team from out of the playoffs, to an eighth seed, to a five seed.

I would call "success" taking an old veteran layden team and fighting a youthful very talented four seed to seven games.

I would call "success" making smart moves with player personnel to get the right fits. Things like Lue for Barry. Gaines for James. Piatkowski for Mutombo.

I would call "success" having a vision and the balls to stick with it instead of wanting to jump from team to team.

Why not? If Larry Brown can bring a championship, the Rockets should go for it. Le$ has shown winning is all that matters. Brown (and Jackson before him) have the track record. Van Gundy does not.

If you are so concerned over following coaches, forget the rockets and follow brown and Jackson.

Larry Brown is the most overated coach in my book.

People hyped up this "he wins everywhere he goes" crap, but when you look closely at each situation, you'd been surprised. I didn't know the guy much until he became the coach of the Pacers, and that team underachived big time under his coaching! Do you know why he left Detroit? True, the owner wants him out, but another reason is that he worn out his welcome with the players, and he knew the Pistons can go nowhere but down, I guess he learned from his 76ers' experience.

Plus, he is not an honest man, broke his contract everywhere he's been. I don't want him to be our coach!

Brown wins ONE championship in 22 years of coaching (not to mention the 18 years it took just to make the NBA Finals), and he's got a "track record" now.

    Huh.

It is a very simple concept. Le$ Alexander has no use for loyalty. Le$ Alexander wants the best available coach. Larry Brown is a better coach than Jeff Van Gundy.

Therefore, if possible, Le$ should go hire Larry Brown.

It doesn't matter what I think, or you think, or Kenny Hand thinks.
Only one person's opinion matters. I just think Mr. Alexander has set his rules, and he should play by them.

The whole point is moot though, as Larry Brown doesn't want the job.

One NBA championship. He also has an ABA championship, and one of those semi-pro NCAA championships.

    1/0 = infinity.

Incidentally, weren't you one of the ones who didn't want to count championships?

It is a very simple concept. The rockets are my team and I root for them. Them being players and coaches. Period.

We can argue the effectiveness of Rudy and his decision making as a coach/player personnel manager, but the point is moot. He's gone.
