This is games through the press ..as usual. But to me from what I have gathered, it seems that Morrey has put fillers around to see what he can get, and Ainge is interested but not to fill Morrey's price.

And wouldnt' be surprised if the first leak happened from Ainge to pressure Denver or Atlanta to trade their other targets and this is Morrey's answer.
Fck up Ainge's plans and regain the leverage.

They are building now around Gallo and not trading him.

It looks to me that Dwight is more of a misdirection for Ainge and he's not really so much interested. Just using Dwight to pressure Denver to lower their price for Gallinari.

 

Dwight would look weird wearing a Celtic uniform. And I don't think the fans would like Dwight in Boston.

 

Doubtful. What good is the misdirection if Boston has the assets to easily trade for both?

 

Pay less. Get what you want and save assets to strike again when another "star" or opportunity arrises.
Ainge didn't get there by paying what the other party wants without hard and long negotiations.

And Gallo will take more than 2 firsts in the 20s. Probably the 2018 BKN pick + to get.

 

Ainge is probably leaking this horse**** if for nothing else to 'outmorey' Morey and take a jab while a team is struggling. Boston is playing better than Houston, or so the record states so the Celtics can be predators, but like its been said they are trying to pillage Houston. It would be crazy if Dwight were to come out and demand a trade, but thats the only way the big guy gets moved.

 

i can see a dwight trade happening this deadline. morey said he's not getting the max. maybe dwight's reply was that he was leaving. in which case its time for a trade.

the celtics make the most sense. with dwight they can reach the ECF, and they have so many picks that they wont even jeopardize their future by acquiring him.

i think the main factors would be: (1) big contract to match salaries, (2) decent player in return, (3) pick/s.

1) big contract - this is between david lee and amir johnson. obviously ainge would prefer lee, while morey would want johnson. since this is the least important part of the trade, i think morey picks his battles, and decides to concede to take lee. plus his expiring helps our cap next summer anyway.

2) decent player - morey wants thomas/bradley/crowder, but that's not happening because it would ruin their chance at the ECF which is the only reason for ainge to do this trade. ainge would rather throw in fillers like jerebko, zeller, or sully who they probably won't resign. morey balks, he doesn't want to resign sully either. ainge might concede to add rozier or hunter, but morey wants either smart or olynyk. i think morey ends up holding out for smart because of how great a fit he would be next to harden. i think ainge would want terry to replace him in the rotation and demand morey take back a lesser pick.

3) draft picks - all 3 nets picks are off the table. with smart in the trade, multiple firsts are off the table too. if we are going to get 1 first round pick, the celtics own picks are weak since they will be good. the memphis 2018 pick isn't exciting. i think they meet in the middle with this year's dallas pick. since ainge has more picks than roster spots, i bet morey can steal a second rounder as well. if we agree to give up on the nets picks and multiple first rounders, i think we can take one of the top second rounders. either the sixers or wolves 2016 second round pick.

I don't think Morey is interested in anything Phoenix would give up.

But I think this is a reference to specifically the Pelicans, Hawks, and because they're already in the thread title, he didn't mention the Celtics, but I'd guess they've called too.

Right it seems like Cod is implying a three way trade with Boston and Charlotte. The Hornets are better without big 25, and the Celtics could use someone like him.

I think Morey might end up with Lee, Avery, BKN 1st rounder and filler if this is his best chance. Howard is playing great ball and teams are trying to hurt and frustrate him (kind like what Trump is trying to do to Cruz now) because they can't stop him (accept to put him on the FT line). If we can squeeze a Crowder or Olynyk that would be icing.
