Just to think that the Nuggets Fans didn't want Mo Taylor, Cato, Kenny Thomas, Langhi...Mo Taylor is better than any guy they got in this deal.
Wow, the Mavs have 3 7 footers who shoot the three ball with Nowitzki, Wang, and Lafrentz. I've never seen that many 3 pointing 7 footers on one team. Can you say matchup nightmare?
My goodness.... this is a horrendously bad deal for Denver. All they get from this is unloading Van Exel's contract, a contract that will clear in 2003 and Harvey. Never mind that Van Exel will provide way more firepower than Hardaway.... they got Raef. That's all that matters in this deal. Ridiculous. Now the Mavs have Nowitzki, Finley, Nash and LaFrentz. Denver just screwed themselves and the rest of us in the Midwest division.... Dallas has some scary young pieces for a long time now. Extremely stupid deal. Dude, I bet Tim Hardaway is pissed off right now.
So what do you think Dallas will do with all the guards they have now? They traded one and received three back. I don't know how their IR looks, but if some other deal hasn't been made, they may just have to waive one or two. If they waive Avery, are the Rockets interested in picking him up?
Still speechless on this deal--are the Nuggest just folding the franchise for a decade or something? Now McDyess is never coming back, Tim Hardaway retires and Juwan Howard becomes the most hated player in Denver....if anyone still watches them.
First of all, being a huge Nicky V fan I am glad to see him go to a winning team. As bad as it sounds, Denver isn't as bad off. Nick was just being a neusance in the lockerroom, and they had to get his and Abdul-Wahads salary off, which was a good move. They got Harvey who has some promise, and now they can focus the team around Dyess. With a good draft pick in the 2002 draft(STEVE LOGAN? SLEEPER? ), I dont feel they will be in too bad of shape. I'm also happy to see Timmy Hardaway being a starter again. But the Mavs got a huge deal today. Van Exel is #1 when it comes to being clutch(ask David Aldrige), and LaFrentz is another big man to the mix, and Cuban loves him. If I had my way, this is how their starting five would look: C - Raef LaFrentz PF- Dirk Nowitski SF- Michael Finley SG- Nick Van Exel PG- Steve Nash "scary" The Mavs/Rockets are my favorite NBA teams, so I couldn't really be happy for Dallas.
I'm in utter shock. Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now over this trade (although my roommate heard a lot of 4 letter ones for the past 2 hours). I just can't believe the team I supported for my whole life, the team I love, has turned it's back on me, and the rest of the fans, once again. This has happened to Nugs fans three times in the past 8 years. We had a team that shocked the world, and had some potential, in 1995, and blew it up. We then blew the entire team up again in 1997 (boy, those 11 wins were exciting), and now we're doing it again, even though we had the pieces in place to at least be a playoff team with coaching. But no, management turned it's back on us yet again, saying, "Give us a few years, just support us". No, we've supported this craphole of a franchise for too long for this to happen again. The Nugs were possibly the best team in the ABA. They were one of the best teams in the early/mid 80s. Now, we're a joke. I'm utterly shocked. I don't know what to say when it comes to this.
Dear Nuggets4 and nuggets fans who share your pain, I was deeply sorry to hear about the trade today and I almost got misty reading your post Nuggets4. I'm a Rocks fan and the last few years have been utter torture so I can't image how you feel right now. But all of us would be lying if we didn't feel like this about a team before. I remember when the Astros traded Nolan Ryan, when I saw Hakeem in purple for the first time, and when the Oilers moved to Nashville. All I'm saying is, we all feel for ya because we've all been there. Who knows... Harvey may become a superstar... well, maybe not. p.s. Read Bill Simmons column about the patriots winning the superbowl. It gave me a lot of optimism.
Nugs fans, I am sorry for our sake (we are really behind the Mavs now) and really really sorry for you I thought our Pippen trade was bad (we should have got more), but this trade sucked amazingly bad. I thought the Brand trade or JWill-Bibby trade were bad, but they look good compared to this one. This trade is so bad it can't even fall under stupidity--it must be dirty. We can only imagine if we traded Franchise for Reggie Miller or Mobley for Yinka Dare. This is sickinging. I know they are not in your home state, but you are welcome to be Rocket fans. We may suck right now also, but I think our front office is trying to build for the future.
Nuggets4, Nugzfan, just want to say I'm also shocked and sorry on your guys' part (not to mention that it pisses me off Dallas gets to benefit from such a scam). As a Rockets fan, I've never had to deal with such s***. Maybe it'll work out better than anticipated; you never know. I'm not optimistic, but it only makes it that much sweeter if some positive things do result. You guys get complete b**** rights for five plus years as far as I'm concerned. Still, it's not like the status quo was so rosy anyway. Maybe this will turn out to be the shorter way, if more painful, to meaningful playoff success.
Dallas has gotten better with this trade, but the Nuggets have made a bad deal, they might in the long run manage to have more salary cap room, but free agents won't be attracted to a weak team.
I hope LaFrentz leaves the Mavs in the offseason. But that damn Cuban will probably offer him the max and make him stay. We are ****ed! Griffin better turn out to be the next Duncan or something.
I think it's funny...all the "crappy" trade offers we proposed and they accept something like this. Hehehehehehehehehehe Nuggets fans...at least we have a couple of championships.
That's just mean! It is funny though, how they said "no way in hell!" to 99% of the trades involving Den. I think there will be EVEN MORE one-sided trade ideas made here.
NugzFan & Nuggets4, I know that I've proposed some pretty outlandish trades, but it was all in fun. However, I never, in my wildest dreams, would've imagined that Denver would make this kind of deal. I feel for you. You would've thought they at least could've gotten multiple #1 picks, instead of just one, which at the moment is the 27th pick. I can't believe they took this deal over the reported deal with Portland for Wells, Davis, & Stoudamire. You guys might want to check on whether or not Issell snuck in & knocked Kiki out, then made the trade to get back at the Nuggets for forcing him out. It's almost like Denver had a garage sale. Speaking of garage sales. Is that injured PF over there for sale? You know......, that Italian guy by the name of Antonio. Tell you what, I'll give you a sweet deal for him. How about this? Houston sends Cato/Taylor/Toronto #1 pick/future lottery protected #1 pick to Denver. Denver sends McDyess/Posey to Houston. Just pulling your chains guys.
