As seen on ESPN Sportscenter and offically reported Nick Van Exel and Lafrtenz, Avery Johnson to Dallas for Tim Hardaway, J Howard, Harvey, Tariq Wahed to Denver. Plus 02' first round pick and 1 million $$$ from the Mavs.
Dallas Trades : Juwon Howard Tim Hardaway Donnell Harvey Draft pick Nuggets Trade : Nick Van Exel Raef LaFrentz Tariq Abdul-Wahad Avery Johnson Reason No. 456 why trade ideas should not be allowed on this board . . . wait a minute . . . .
Goodness. That Dallas team is scary. But I also smell trouble. I think they will ship Van Exel elsewhere. It just doesn't seem to make sense to have Nash and Van Exel both on the same team...unless Van Exel plays SG. Nash, Van Exel, Finley, Nowitzki, LaFrentz looks scary enough on paper.
Van Exel can play sg in Nellie's system, but there are still rumors circulating that he'll be shipped to NY for Camby. Dallas gets a whole lot bigger and better, whereas Denver unloads Abdul-Wahad's nasty salary, gets cap flexibility once Howard's contract is up, gets a decent pg in Hardaway, and a GREAT future prospect in Animal Harvey. But still..the Mavs made off like bandits
Can they still trade NVE? I thought Hardaway/Avery was unnecessary, unless it was for cap reasons. Dallas is deep. Bradley? Lafrentz Dirk Finley Nash/NVE?
I just wonder why Dallas could get Van Exel and LaFrentz for such a bunch of scrubs. I also wonder how Tim Hardaway feels after he did not go for better offers so that he could play in Dallas.
I'm just waiting to hear that two people were arrested for attempted murder of the Nuggets GM . . . In that case, we might not be hearing from the two nuggets fans in a long time . . .
It's been reported that there will be no deal with NY. Timmy was great here, but his poor shot selection and erratic play didn't really fit in well. Plus, who in their right mind would take Howard/Hardaway over LaFrentz/VanExel/Johnson? Purely a business move and I'm sure he realizes it.
It must be really fun to be a Dallas fan now. Cuban got what he wanted in Lafrentz. David Stern is going really have to learn to deal with Cuban because he should be around for a long time while kicking some As2. Congrats Dallas, Lafrentz in Dallas should now increase the chances that we get Duncan here in Houston in '03....hopefully.
I was thinking that Golden States front office was a joke for it's Jackson trade, but that honor definitely goes to Denver now. NugzFan & N4, you both have my condolences. Cato doesn't look so bad now, does he?
You see, this is why there is a veto in fantasy basketball. The other 27 teams should have two days to vote yes or no. If fourteen teams vote no, the trade should be thrown out. Just kidding, but this trade is just far too lop-sided.
If Dallas shipped NVE straight up for Sprewell you'd have... Nash Sprewell Finley Nowitzki Lafrentz and that is a hell of a team.
