Ever wonder what would happen if a nuclear (it's pronounced nuc-u-ler) bomb was dropped in your vicinity or anywhere else in the world?

You can chose the location and the size of the bomb based on ones that are from the past, in current arsenals or ones in testing. It's pretty crazy to see what kind of destruction just one of these could cause.

    http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

A 100 mt bomb (largest USSR bomb designed) dropped in the middle of Houston completely lays waste to everything inside of 610. Destroys all buildings in a diameter from Spring to League City and Baytown to Katy (yes, you should evacuate). Thermal radiation (3rd degree burns, severe scarring, dismemberment) from Willis to Galveston and Sealy to Lake Anahuac. Over 4.5 million dead or injured.

    Enjoy!

This thing is definitely interesting to play around with. Like stated above, I was surprised to see how small of a radius both Japan bombings were.

Do a surface drop of the same bomb and see what happens.

If you type in a megaton size greater than 100, you get this error message

This mode of NUKEMAP only scales up to 100,000 kt (100 megatons). Anything beyond that and we're in the land of pure speculation. Sorry! Try NUKEMAP Classic if you want to play with more fake numbers.

Good news for me is, I live far enough from a major city to avoid being bothered by even 100 megatons of nuclear bomb.

No kidding, they wouldn't take out even most of my city, which isn't even that large. It would take both just to take out most of the Air Force Base in my town.

All the chemical and refineries along our way will only exacerbate
    this.

The record fatalities that I could find (injuries not included) with a 100Mt bomb was Kolkata India with 12.829M deaths.

For the US, it was over NYC with 8.4M deaths.

Exactly. Especially considering how much some people complained (and still complain) about dropping those bombs.

The terrorists can watch me all they want. I'll never get a 100mt nuke, much less any nuke.

Peoples ignorance is amazing. On the high end, 250k people died. Their alt. reality could have easily ended up with 10x the amount of casualties with the Soviets controlling much of China and Japan. W/out Honda and Toyota, we would be stuck with Government Motors crap.
