Raef has a tendency to suck! I love that statement! Anyway, Van Exel usually has pretty good games against us. I figure he is hot, coming off 30 and 7 last night, and will continue the hot shooting (I hope he does, he is on ym fantasy team). HOWEVER, I think Houston has a shot, but needs offensive production from Taylor and the Wiz. I will not predict a score, but should be a close game, as Denver is tough in their house. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
I will not project a score, but this will be high scoring. Collier will have his career high scoring as hakeem will need to rest. Stevie will have a big game, but have terrible shooting % KT will play suprisingly well against DYCE and lead team in boards. Cat will probably have a bad night but get more than 6 assists. if he has a good night than he will get no more than 4 assists. walt gets 3 steals. 12 pts 6 boards i dunno but it is going to be a high scoring hame. over 100 ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball http://www.hanta-force.com
Collier is hurt. He's not playing in this or any other game for awhile. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve immortality by not dying. - Woody Allen
is it me, or does it seem like every year the rockets have to go to denver right during ramadan. You think they could change that up a bit every once in a while. I realize we have to go to denver, what, 2 times a year, but they could make it earlier or something. anyway, i dont know who will win, but i dont see steve coming out of this mini-funk. He is having some problems now deciding what kind of player he wants to be--according to Maxim, he wants to be like Isiah, score sometimes, pass sometimes, win all the time. But he is still confused. And he often gets raped by players like nick the quick. That is the key matchup in my opinion. ------------------ Remember.... You are not really drunk until you must hold on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.
stop saying that about nick! hes not a head case! geez. and you have to admit THIS YEAR hes out playing francis SO FAR. give credit where its due. ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Having met NVE repeatedly, I can tell you he's not a head case. In fact, I seriously doubt he ever was. What he is is brutally honest. If the team is sucking, he'll say it. He'll place blame precisely where it's due. Nick has turned into one hell of a leader this year. Unfortunately, people won't realize this, and always just say "Well, he's a headcase. Look how he was in LA". ------------------ Nuggets4 The Pinnacle - Rising to the Top With the Denver Nuggets http://www.NugsPinnacle.com
I have to agree. NVE has been really solid almost his entire career. He can be a bit streaky, but his career numbers are fairly consistent, and very good. He has improved in the assists column as well. I won't say he is better than Steve, but he has played well this year, and I have not yet seen him take a large number of ill-advised shots as he has been known to do in the past. As far as NVE being a headcase....he has had his moments and disagreements with coaching and other players, but it hasn't ever seemed to stop him from being effective. I guess you have to start with what your definition of a headcase is. I see Isiah Rider as a headcase, Derrick Coleman was, Vernon Maxwell was, and several others. My definition is a guy that is easily angered, and thus prohibits himself from performing at the accustomed level, a hothead (you know, letting your emotions get the best of you, thus, choking). ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." Van Exel has easily been better than Steve if you are looking at track records - anyone who thinks differently is the headcase. Van Exel has punished Francis on the two occasions I've seen them go head to head. Now if we start talking about potential, then Francis may be better, but as far as who has been better up until now, Van xel wins hands down. ------------------ Maybe all the rulers are wrong. I seem to have aroused the anger of (both!) Nuggets fans on the board. NVE was a head case in LA. You'll agree to that. He repeatedly got into arguments with Dell Harris on the bench, including during the 97 finals. Worse, he assaulted Ron Garretson, an official, and was suspended several games. I don't know of any incidents in Denver, really. So maybe he's "changed" - I obviously don't know him personally, like you guys do. But to me, once a head case, always a head case, until I'm shown otherwise. Maxwell never grew up. Coleman never did. Rider didn't. Neither did Rodman. I don't care how many points Ceballos scores: people are still going to remember him abandoning his team so he could go jet skiing in Tahoe. As for the other stuff, you've gotta admit that its more than just points and assists. Van Exel has lead his team nowhere since he got to Denver (of course, you could say the same for Francis, but he's barely been in the league a year and at least has youth on his side). And I think that if Van Exel was a better shooter / defender, the Nuggets would win more often. All that said, Van Exel is a good player. Francis is better, but its not a huge margin. I'd say they were both top-5 PGs in the west right now. ------------ OK! I just read davo's post. Calling me a head case for cracking on NVE? I can take it, but I think personal attacks are juvenile and a piss-poor way of arguing your point. Give me something more than 2 head-to-head matchups and some insults to base your opinion on, chief. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... Rockets 94 Nuggets 90 Francis 24pts 8assist Mobley 30pts Taylor 10pts 2boards Van Exel 23pts Dice 18pts 10boards
Just like the Kings game we have to shut down the opposition studs, but Steve and Mo can't and won't stut down Nick and McDyess, who will go off for 29 and 25 respectively ------------------ "It's incredible to see how he [Mobley] can beat his guy one-on-one every time. That is a tremendous talent. The combination of Steve and Cuttino, I think, is wonderful in the backcourt." --the Dream
Nuggets: 138 Rockets: 79 Van Exel will score 48 points, and McDyess will score 55 and grab 42 boards, with 10 assists, 11 steals, and 12 blocks. Francis will lead the Rockets with 8 points on 4-4 shooting. He will also have 1 assist. ------------------ 2000-2001 Rockets Game Formulas: End of 1st quarter: "They're playing so well!" 2nd: "What a great game!" 3rd: "Theres no way they can lose now!" 4th: "What the ******* **** happened?!!" Revote! Revote! Revote!...... Rocket's Championship 2001!!
I dont know why alot of us are so optimistic? Rockets will lose tonite by about 5-8 points. Nick will score 25+ on Steves p***y ass. Steve will have 12 points while attempting a whooping 6 shots. Mobes will have a field day, but the rest of the Rockets will suck ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! To point out individuals or teams that have managed to reach the pinnacle of SUCKINESS!!!!! - Tonights winner (loser actually) are are own beloved Rockets!!!!!!!
Maybe because we have an excellent team who had won 5 of 6 until one bad game that has basically sent the whole BBS into insanity. There are a TON, a TON of reasons to be optimistic. It just seems like almost all of you expect championship level play and if you don't get it then you're disappointed. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier fan club! i will say anyday that steve is better than van exel. NVE has better numbers this year but that doesnt tell the whole story. I think that a game like this will help steve. a game against a bad defensive, lazy(dont juimp on me for this but from what i saw in LA), and ballhogging player.
I'm predicting a Rockets win. Rudy's not happy after the Sac. loss. NVE's numbers are inflated. He's good, but he's nowhere near what his numbers say he is. Better than Francis at this point? Tough call. All days being equal, I'd take Francis, but things are not always equal. I like Posey a lot. Tough defending SFs, who can shoot and score a little are not exactly a dime a dozen. If Posey makes Walt play D, he wins the matchup. If not, Walt may work him overtime on the offensive ball. I look forward to seeing Clark/Lafrentz. Lafrentz is a very good player, apparently in a slump. Clark is streaky. Knowing the Rockets luck, one of them will be on fire. Benching Tariq is questionable, IMO. He and Shandon are similar players: big-time defenders, a little offense. He's better as a starter. Van Exel/Lenard in the backcourt is not very big, or particularly great defenders. Steve MUST come to play from the tipoff. Get him points early, then he can get others involved. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
Van Excel is a Rocket killer. He makes them pay for going under the screen. Nuget4(u homer) assessments are dead on in this case. Except for the final score. ??? Nothing. You weren't kicked from the chat... perhaps the server hiccuped and kicked you out (in which case you need to log right back in) but I'm the only one who can do that and you were not kicked. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
