Nah you were dumb to give out a max contract to him. He was never ever worth it and isn't a max player and doesn't impact the game that way. you made a stupid decision, own up to it

Can they afford to pay more money for Jokic with this contract?

Jokic now is eligible to receive a supermax contract extension that will be worth $254 million over five years.

They've been paying the LT so they've shown they're willing to spend

Personally, I don't think it would be wise of the GM to go the Doc Rivers route. He can own up to his mistake after he trades away MPJ (unlikely) or he expires (likely). No point of saying it now and piss of MPJ in the process.

The Nuggets are not a franchise that attracts free agents, paying the guys you have is the only way for them to build. MPJ is a good player, better than anyone they would be able to sign on the market. But it didn't work out. He's unquestionably talented, but also injury prone and dumb as bricks.

Pretty sure a number of disgruntled "stars" would love to play with Jokic. If you're not a FA destination you need a mvp caliber player as that key to bringing someone in. jokic is without a doubt that. they never even had a chance to get to that point where denver was an option for players

They went all in on someone like mpj which was dumb from day 1. you could get plenty of value from other players at a fraction of the cost and not be locked in your years to come at max. A limited role player on max with a bad back should be nothing you lock yourself into

He must of had some value to some teams around the league. I do wonder if the Nuggets did their due diligence. They probably could of found an impactful player and suckered another team to take on this guy based on his potential.

He is incredibly overpaid, but might luck into a championship because he gets to play with Jokic.
