but it's LUCAS' freaking legacy!! that's the part that kills me!!

Lucas has no obligation to do anything a particular way to appease SW fans

George has the right to do as he pleases with his story. All I'm saying is that SW fans have the right to b**** about it, and again, that it wouldn't be the first time (or the last time) a public figure changed something due to public outrage.

If you or anyone else is still confused, then I have no idea how to further explain my point. If you don't care, then that's fine. But I do, and I (and thousands of others) are b****ing about it.

I just don't want to see NSync in a movie that I'll probably watch.

I'd still see it if they were extras, but I wouldn't like that they are in it. I don't think they are worthy. If they were in lead roles though ... I know I wouldn't watch the movie.

Who exactly is worthy of being an extra? We get extras as random people off the streets. Are they really worse than any random person out there?

I don't think they are worthy in being in the movie AT ALL. They are a joke. Why not just hand out little cameos to all the big TRL bands out there? Surely they could work Puff Daddy in there somewhere.

IMO, yes, they are worse than any random person out there.

Fine then. Extras be damned. Let's just recast the entire trilogy. Let's make N Sync the members of the Jedi counsel vs. the Backstreet Boys trade federation. While we're at it, let's make O Town the current Sith, Britney Spears could be Amidala, Christina Aguillera could be Jar Jar, and Aaron Carter could be Anakin. The whole movie could be a musical, resulting in a spectacular ending/fight scene a la West Side Story.

Yeah. Spike Lee could direct. I'm sure he has some convoluted threoy about how the Dark Jedi vs. the Jedi is really some parallel to the white man keeping a brother down.

Puffy could be Palpatine. May as well throw Carson Daly somewhere in there.

Answer: Yes. It's friggin N'Sync. They got the extra part because they're popular, not because they're fans. Lance Bass couldn't even remember who the voice of Darth Vader was on "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?". Why should they get to be in the movie? Because millions of girls adore them? Because they sing crappy love ballads? That's BS.

Nice rant, but still irrelevant. The difference is that casting actual characters has an impact on the quality of a movie. The "casting" of extras (ie, picking random people) has no impact on the movie quality. What is the last movie you saw criticized because the extras weren't good enough?

The reality is that, after watching the movie, you wouldn't have even known that NSync members were in it had you not been told about it. They have no impact whatsoever on the quality of the movie.

Why should they get to be in the movie

Lots of films get made here in Austin. If I want to be an extra, all I have to do is to go the filming and be there. Why should I get to be an extra in a movie just because I live in Austin?

People don't deserve to be extras -- they just exist. NO ONE deserves to be an extra in Star Wars -- it just happens because they need people. Do they deserve NOT to be extras just because they are annoyingly famous?

In high school, who won the student council elections? The popular people. Did they deserve to win? Most likely no. Was student council labeled a joke because of this? Absolutely. It's just the principle.

No, it wasn't the principle. Student Council would be labelled a joke because electing popular people affected the quality of the council's decisions and credibility. Picking NSync vs. 5 random people off the street to play extras has no affect on the movie.

Extras should never be bigger than the main actors, and if NSYNC were extras, then they would be bigger than the actual actors.

George Lucas sucks, but these new movies still don't affect how I feel of the original trilogy though, it just changes my opinion of Lucas.

I hope their in it just to piss all you people off who think they shouldn't be in it. In fact, I hope they get more screen time than originally planned. I hope they some how live and make it back in Episode III for even more screen time. Maybe they can hook up with Obi Wan and Anakin for a SW musical concert where they dance around with their light sabers like a bunch of panzies. I hope all their moves are synchronized with each other when they do their fight scenes. I hope they even dub in some of their music during their scenes.

    How do you like that?

The very fact that this caused such an uproar proves it to be relevant. And to me, casting them, even as extras, has an effect on the quality of the movie.

I've already got to live with Jar Jar. I'll be damned if I won't b**** about this.

What I find incredibly irritating is that they were picked for no other reason than to make his teeny-bopper daughters happy. As N Sync, who they are makes them more than extras.

    Yeah. What BGM said.
