So does the "Yes, anyone who uses the n-word for blacks is racist." option in the poll include black people?

The son's reasoning might have been personal, but so what? As has been pointed out even without that the word his father's speech seems bad.

After hearing him say the 'N' word society has every right to treat him accordingly. I don't understand why that upsets you. I'm happy when I see people involved in racist acts getting criticized for it. They deserve it.

What difference does it matter if the son is campaigning for civil rights or exposing his fater's speech out of personal beef.

What do you think the son's motivation was for making this tape public? Do you REALLY think he was trying to save the world from the HORROR of some redneck using the n word during a personal phone call?

For that matter...really, why does anyone care what this guy talks about during a private phone conversation? Aren't you against phone-tapping?

[disclaimer]I am not a racist, nor do I use or condone anyone else using the 'n' word... [/disclaimer]

although i find it tacky, i dont think using the n-word is inherently racist, so i voted no. however, in this case i dont think you can say that there isnt some inherent racist beliefs in what dog is saying. basically, it sounds like he doesnt want his son dating a black girl b/c he likes to use the n-word and if she is around he wont be able to use it b/c she will go to the press. there is something seriously wrong w/ someone w/ this mentality.

a & e has canceled his show too.

Nobody should say the word. Sharpton and Jackson have protested the word's use by black people before but you rarely hear about that. In fact, you only see and hear what the media wants you to. Plus, nobody said white people cannot say the word but anybody who chooses to say the word when it can negatively affect them should be ready for the consequences. Yes, that includes black people and I have seen it happen to several black people before.

I am pretty sure the son had no intent on tackling a real issue here and yes it was personal.

I do admire him however for doing such because he is going to go through a lot because of this too. He may lose his job, face scrutiny and tension within his family, and cause the collapse of his father's source of fame. Maybe he wasn't thinking clearly when he did it or maybe he said to hell with it and did it anyway.

I just thought they halted production until a full inquiry into the situation was made?

I don't get why white people get upset that black people can say the N word and they can't.

It's a damn word. Who cares?

Aren't we a little old to be trying to imitate rap songs and Chappelle's show?

That said, Dog is a moron..and still probably racist. You're not afraid of saying a racial slur if you don't say racial slurs.

Exactly. This is not about him not wanting his son to date a black girl. This is about the n-word police.

Nobody said white people cannot say it. I'm pretty sure if a black person said it outside of a rap song or movie they would get reprimanded for it too. Remember what happened to Bill Cosby when he scrutinized blacks for their parenting, teaching, and learning skills?

If we want to say the son shouldn't tap his father's phone calls as well that's fine, but it doesn't change what Dog did.

Also I'm happy Dog is being criticized from elsewhere, it isn't only about the son.

And in some cases what's wrong with people policing and critizing the use of the N word? Why does that threaten you?

This isn't like them taking Mark Twain books out of a classroom or anything.

It isnt? Losing a job because people found out you used a word for whatever reason using whatever methods isn't like that? I think it is.

"we use the word ni**er sometimes here. I'm not gonna take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for for 30 years because some ****ing ni**er heard us say ni**er and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine." Dog

he's against the relationship because it'll make his use of the word inconvenient.

    rich.
