you'd think that after all the commotion about Kramer and some other folks using the N word, people who spend their life on camera would be a little more careful. bottom line, don't use the word.
I don't think kalu has the same connotation as the N word. The N word can be used much more viciously than kalu.
What is it then? There is no single "problem" when it comes to racism (I assume that's what you're talking about), and if you don't think language is a major component of it then you're just not seeing the whole picture. Also, Nas definitely didn't say that words weren't the problem. He said that the reason he chose to name his album the way he did was specifically to counteract the power that is invoked by that word. Unfortunately, his efforts are counterproductive because what he really means is he wants black people to be able to use that word harmlessly amonst themsleves (I may be wrong here, but I doubt it). Making distinctions between the acceptability of a term's use based on race empowers that term as a tool of racism. Nas is so preoccupied with trying to sound intellectual that he overlooks fails to intellectually reflect on the impact his actions might have.
would you be offended if someone called your daughter out of her name . As for Sharpton & Jackson they make sure that people know that racism still will not be excepted.
I was hoping Nas meant he would like to end the suppression of the word. That is the problem. The problem is that people let the word have power by clinging to a particular definition and usage. It's like this conversation, neither one if us won’t even type the word. I resent it. I don't want the word to have that kind of power. It needs to be conquered. Suppression has never been able to do that. There are hundreds of racial slurs, the sooner we all get over them the better. That's the power that needs to be fought.
hhmmmm it is ok to be racist . . .as long as you keep it under the cover of family loyalty He is what he is and you are what you are Rocket River
He thought he did. . then he realized he did not and left 50 million on the table to leave and recenter himself Rocket River
Actually I don't think he a real person anymore I think he more of a Joke Account or something Something to allow someone to say all that kind of crap and then come back on their other account and say SEE SEE A BLACK PERSON SAID THE SAMETHING basically a Foil of some sort Rocket River
Alot of you are apologists. I am sure someone put on a Nazi uniform, beat up a Jewish guy and some of you will find a way to say it is okay. The use of the 'n' word is all about context. People of the same ethnic group do use derrogatory terms with each other all the time. I have been at parties with all Hispanics or Asians and heard nothing but racist jokes and comments about each other. Now if I had used any of that I would have gotten beatdown. Not too hard to understand that, right? Dog's intent was definitely to degrade the young lady because she is Black. He didn't want his son with her and race was the reason. Right there is clearly racist. In that racist context, the 'n' word was used. The irony when you are a public figure and need the public to make money is the racial groups you hate are contributing to your income. So it is okay for Black people to watch the show, but once they get around my family, there is a problem?
