    ^ IMO all of that is going too far but sometimes people only care about the rights that affect them the most.

    Too right. America, land of the free, home of the brave, and bereft of people who vote and bereft of intelligent leaders. France made fools of us in their election a couple of days ago. What did they have... 85% turnout? 87%? If Americans got involved in politics, got into the process, and turned out to vote in similar numbers, we wouldn't have seen the chaos and incompetence of the last 6-7 years, because, IMO, the GOP wouldn't have had it's grip on power, and Bush wouldn't have come close enough to Gore to be selected President.

    Not only that, but the Democratic Party, my party, would also be more responsive to the People.

    when you say americans, maybe you should say democrats don't come out to vote. but in general, i agree, it's sad that americans care so little about their privelage to vote.
