    Too bad it is true:

That is definitely more understandable IMO.

I think Sony got burned trying to make a number of new IPs, which they wanted to establish at the beginning of the PS3's life and milk throughout (similar to the PS1 and PS2). Unfortunately, a lot of these IPs were not successful. Folklore, Lair, Heavenly Sword (the "Goddess of War"), etc., all sort of flopped. Third party exclusives like UT3 and VF5 didn't really do much either. I think even Warhawk and Uncharted could be seen as flops of sorts, at least in the US (especially since Warhawk was originally MUCH more ambitious). Guessing they probably expected MGS, Tekken, FF, etc., to be released sooner as well, but we know what happened there.

In hindsight, perhaps they should have pushed their studios to release sequels to their major IPs, and to finish them sooner (sure would be nice to have a complete GT right now). But I don't think it would necessarily be correct to say that Sony didn't try to put out some great, blockbuster games within the PS3's first few years. They definitely tried. All the money they spent on these games proves that. They just didn't succeed.

Of course, I think even with what Sony provided, games weren't really that much of a problem, especially compared to what the average system has to offer in the first few years. But you can argue that perhaps Sony needed a little more than "average" in order to sell a $500-$600 system.

I can do that later today if there is interest in it, and no one else wants to make it.

I was going to wait until maybe Wednesday when most of the major talks would occur (Iwata keynote on Wednesday, Kojima talking on Thursday, etc). I don't think much is expected for Monday or Tuesday, but I might be wrong.
