If you really need help, I can. You get kicked, but not every kick break your bone. Sometimes the differnce it's simply you react - quickly. Now, if you have had your ankle twisted, you don't react as quickly, you don't move as fluidly, that can make the difference. Not saying you can absolutely avoid the injury if you haven't twisted your ankle, or Yao's twisted-night-before ankle is the cause of injury. But a twisted ankle increase the risk of injury. got it?
Keith Jones's recommendation was like Heats saying "wade can play" in game 7 against Pistons last year. But that was a critical game for Heats, and the Jazz game was ABSOLUTELY MEANINGLESS to us. Keith Jones doesn't concern himself with whether it is an inportant game or not.
What is done is done....he is hurt, bad luck.... Lose em all, come back next year... Let's get to number 6 in the draft. DD
just about every starting player on every team has some sort of injury at this point in the season. it was a twisted ankle. i don't see the twolves benching garnett or the hawks benching joe johnson. you play to win and don't stop playing players who are not seriously injured just because you won't make the playoffs. No teams do that. Unless it is an injury that is really serious or requires surgery, they play. Since when was a TWISTED ankle serious?
I don't remember any serious or legitimate blame on Tmac for sitting down because of hurting. And this board was in overwhelming favor of shutting Tmac down even if he can play the last couple of games. And if Tmac wins a championship or two, nobody will remember all that.
To all those who defend JVG et al: you guys will be f***ing sorry if the surgery does NOT repair Yao's foot. NOT all injuries are repairable. There is no point in playing Yao for the reminder of the season. Period.
What? That losing teams don't bench their better players? KG was held out of what, one game? Nice try, though.
Sarcasm noted. My answer is, Who wins more? The coach who is notorious for working his players into the ground? (JVG's championships: zero.) Or the coach who takes good care of his star players? (Phil Jackson's championships: nine.)
You REALLY should do your homework before posting.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Garnett sits rest of season Timberwolves sit Garnett, beat Hawks BY RICK ALONZO Knight Ridder Newspapers MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Timberwolves ended exhibition play in October. It resumed Sunday, with six games remaining in the regular season. The Wolves' season took perhaps its strangest turn Sunday when Kevin Garnett was shut down, perhaps for the rest of the season, as the youth movement hit full speed. Garnett had made 351 consecutive starts, the longest active streak in the NBA. That ended against the Atlanta Hawks, but rookie Rashad McCants scored a career-high 28 points in the Wolves' 84-83 win. With the Wolves eliminated from playoff contention, Garnett didn't even suit up Sunday. Ricky Davis, the Wolves' second-leading scorer, also was out and might not return. Officially, the explanation listed on an injury report was that Garnett (right knee tendinitis) and Davis (left groin strain) are battling nagging injuries. In reality, the Wolves shut them down because the team essentially has begun summer-league play a few months early. Casey said he hasn't determined whether Garnett and Davis will see the court again before the season ends. "With Ricky's groin the way it is and to save miles on Kevin's knees, it's just better to go ahead and not even be tempted to give them those minutes," Casey said. Garnett watched the game from the locker room. A team spokesman said during the fourth quarter that Garnett had left the building and would not be available for postgame comments. Davis watched from the bench and also left early. Garnett had started every Wolves game since Feb. 19, 2002, when he missed a victory at Dallas for personal reasons. The Wolves improved to 3-11 with Garnett sitting out, dating to his rookie season in 1995-96. It remains to be seen whether the NBA will have anything to say about Minnesota's use, or lack thereof, of Garnett and Davis to ensure competitive balance and equity. Teams competing for playoff positioning might not be too happy about the Wolves using a less-than-full-strength lineup. Four of the Wolves' five remaining games are against teams jockeying for playoff seeding. Utah still is mathematically alive for the playoffs, and it picked up a win Friday against the Wolves as Garnett sat out the fourth quarter. Casey said he still is trying to win games and doesn't think the team will hear from the league. He also said his first obligation is to develop the team. "We owe it to our fans to develop and to be ready for next year, so that we don't go through the same thing next year," Casey said. That process is well underway. --------------------------------------------------------------------- What was your point again....???? DD
Hah! Just thought it was one game. Big difference in tendinitis and a TWISTED ankle, though. That's my whole point here.
Yes. Tendinitis doesn't go away until you rest an extremely long period of time, and it always returns. I should know, I have it in my left knee. A TWISTED ankle generally will go away in a day or two, and it won't return.
FYI, Garnnet was playing, averaging big numbers. Had they not in the position they were in, no one has any doubt he would be playing, and rest his knee in the summer. Read that article more carefully. And one game for Yao was all I asked for.
In terms of championships won, we still have JVG <<< Pat Riley <<< Phil Jackson. Besides, during Riley's Showtime period, he had at least two players who could speak up against his abuse and make their words stick (Kareem and Magic). We'll see if Riley's drill sergeant techniques can win Shaq another championship. I kind of doubt it. I notice that both Shaq and Zo have been hurting lately.
