I just looked at Rudy's contract, and he seems to be locked in for the next 4 seasons for the low-low. I don't know how accurate Hoopshype is:

    http://hoopshype.com/salaries/portland.htm

Battier for Rudy/Outlaw seems to work per ESPN, although they say Outlaw has 2 years left and Hoopshype says he only has 1 (not sure which is right). I don't see why both teams wouldn't do this trade assuming Outlaw only has 1 year left. The Blazers get a dependable veteran SF that can hit open shots and hold Kobe. They get rid of a dude who doesn't want to be there as well. The Rockets get an athletic starting SG and a backup SF who won't mess up their future cap.

Yeah...I know I'm dreaming. I just don't see many cheaper alternatives than Rudy out there....he seems like a Morey kinda guy.

I'd be happy with Fernandez and filler for Battier. Doesn't have to be Outlaw. Webster maybe? I'm not sure about the numbers

Portland now target on Lee after lost out on Hedo, so I guess a Battier + Hayes for Rudy F. + Przybilla works for both team

we can also offer Det. maybe a 2nd Rd. pick to help S&T McDyess to Hou.

    Przybilla, McDyess
    L. Scolla, Landry
    T. Ariza, White
    Rudy F., Taylor
    A. Brooks, Lowry

that's probably as good as the team pushed Lakers to game 7 (replace Hayes+Shane+Ron+Wafer w/ Przybilla+Ariza+Rudy F.+Taylor)

and if Yao & T-Mac can come back for the 10' playoff we could be the dark house team

3-Way trade with T-Wolves and Blazers:

Houston sends: Brooks and Battier to Blazers
    Houston Recieves: Outlaw and Rubio

    T-Wolves send: Rubio to Houston
    T-Wolves recieve: Fernandez and Bayliss

Blazers send: Bayliss and Fernandez to T-Wolves and Outlaw to Houston
    Blazers recieve: Battier and Brooks

You know, I actually like that 3-way trade with the Blazers and T-wolves, assuming the Rockets front office truly believes Rubio is all that...

Essentially Brooks for his replacement, Ricky R., then Battier for a younger version of himself in Outlaw.

Then we have a point guard willing to pass, and two willing starters in Outlaw and Ariza willing to score.

All that and we still have Scola/Landry to do the dirty work down low.

I guess the only question is will Pryzilla's contract hinder our chances at a new big in 2010?

Also, is Minnie going to be satisfied with Rudy? I'd imagine that some on this board might be a bit jealous, too...

I doubt you can get Pryzabilla in this deal - hell I'll bet Landry might have to be included but I'd make the orginal offer first.

My only concern is Outlaw. They would need to make sure his contract will not hinder them from making a max offer next offseason. He also needs to be able to play the 2 or the Rockets with have 2 SF's on the wing and I'm not sure that is ideal. But on the surface I think that 3-way is solid for all three teams needs.

We ran with two slow footed wings all year....having 2 young studs should be okay ;)

Seriously, Outlaw can pretty much play the 2-4 positions depending on matchups. I just like the possible problems that we can create using Brooks or Lowry with Fernandez at the 2, Ariza at the 3 and Outlaw off of the bench at the 4 (for short periods) Defenses wouldn't know what hit them.

Seeing as how Portland has approached us about possible Outlaw for Battier swaps in the past, I'm not sure that it'll take much more than Battier just from a player perspective. After all, we'd really be helping them out more than anything. With Martell Webstar slated to come back and the progression of Batum, Ferndandez's time will be cut regardless, they will get there veteran leader in Shane and they don't have to worry about trying to pay Outlaw next summer. Besides, Outlaw and Fernandez COMBINED make $5.4 mil this year....Shanes contract alone is 6.8 so unless Portland would throw another player in, the money is just right. Although I'd include a future 2nd rounder if need be.

If there's a "perfect" trade to be made, this is pretty much as close as it gets in my opinion.

I agree completely with all your points and believe once Yao returns or whoever we get for TMAC will only set us up even better. Problem I have began to realize is that they need a point guard so we may have to give up Brooks which then would allow us to ask for Bayless like some have suggested. I really hope this turns into realty because it would transform us into a dynamic team overnight!

Yeah....there were rumblings a few days ago saying that they were targeting Andre Miller for the PG spot so hopefully that'll go down. I'd hate to have go give up AB now...i think that his game will really shine with the squad that's being assembled.

Oh and I hope that "whoever we get for TMAC" turns out to be Bosh.....our core will all be in between 23 and 27. We'd be contending for the better part of the next decade LOL

I like the way the team is look at the moment, so I think we need to make any moves, but to get our hands on a 7 footer who rebounds and blocks shoots. We have seen that Scola and Hayes can play center. Not in the typical style, but they play much taller than they are listed.

If worse comes to worse Yao and Tracy don't come back strong and we make the lottery, where we can get some good talent. We then have cap room with McGrady's contract to get some more young talent.

So if things go well we make another run, fi they don't we are in a good position to get some young talent and catapult back into the Play-offs teh next year.

Bayless isn't really a point guard- he's definitely more of a scorer. i don't think I'd want Rudy as he seems too fragile for the NBA. I can see him turning into almost an exclusive 3 point streak shooter, with suspect defense.

If we trade Battier to Portland, I want Martell Webster, if we don't move that piece to Minny for Rubio.

It's definitely a possibility though. With Martell Webster coming back, they'll still be overloaded at the 2 and 3 spot with no "stand out" starter at the 3 spot unless they go with Batum again.

Behind Roy you have Webster at the 2/3, Rudy at the 2/3, Outlaw at the 2/3/4 and Batum at the 2/3. Sending them Battier makes sense because they would have a bona fide starter and can then bring Webster off of the bench at the 2/3 and Batum off at the 3.

And again, they've contacted us in past seasons trying to get Battier for his vet leadership.
