We are young son of a guns!!!!!
You'd condition this trade on Bosh signing an extension. Otherwise, you wouldn't make it. Anyways, I'd love a Battier for Rudy type deal.
I've always LOVED Nick Young...in fact I basically LOOOVE everyone in the 07' Draft lol... I really like your deal from our perspective...however I just can't see Washington willing to do it. Haywood is a top 10 centre in this league and when they are pushing hard for a massive playoff run why would they wanna even begin to think of giving up their starting centre??? I'd love for this deal to go down: Battier Landry for Butler Blatche They don't have enough basketballs to share around in Washingtonland...and we can provide them with the PERFECT glue guy in Shane Battier...man we're giving them an allstar!!! THE NO STATS ALL STAR!!! Which makes Butler redundant for them and we receive our starting centre of the future and backup to Yao Ming in Andray Blatche...dis guy has the talent and potential to be GREAT one day as described by David Thorpe of ESPN but just doesn't have the drive to reach that potential...playing under the Rockets culture should teach him a lesson or ten... I think Washington would actually do this if we could sweeten it with say, a future pick
My point in Gortat is he is not a cornerstone franchis center like Oden's potential and people are desperate for a center in this league and overpaying for him. Boozer,Scola,Lee are not centers. Perkins,Varejao and Zaza are serviceable if anything. Dalembert career average is 8 points and 8 boards as a 7 footer. Okur is a nice pull. You can sign all these type guys but can ask none of them to lead you anywhere. Oden still has way too much potential to unload him just because of some injuries is my only point. Like I said, I agree that talent for talent value is clearly there in that trade but Portland would not want to look back on this and see Oden as a 8 time All Star 10 years from now. Brooks has less room for growth clearly as he is way more polished than Oden. What is Brooks growth potential other than gaining more experience and better decision making? Will he grow?no Will he get a better shot?no because it is already good. Will he get quicker?no Better rebounder?no Better passer?yes Better leader?doubtful as it just doesn't seem in him.
Problem with this is you did not mention T-Mac in that deal and with his contract then you can't sign until season end and that is too much of a risk to take.
why would you think that??? Haywood had been starting all along before he got his season-ending injury and McGee is still a rookie...Haywood would be a top10 centre in the league when he is healthy... McGee would be a backup at best next season if they are serious about competing for a championship. on the other hand I think this trade would be very promising: Battier Landry for Butler Blatche Young
Yea but **** Von. I rather have Rudy than Von any day. Von Wafer has a horrible I.Q and he wants more money than he really deserves. I rather take Rudy. But I doubt Morey would make that move. I think this Ariza move is probably the only thing Morey would make this offseason.
i would LOVE to get rudy.... but rudy wants to leave because he doesn't want the team to pickup his option, rather he wants out of his rookie contract so he can make more money. any team that trades for him would have to agree to that or they would be inheriting a problem. plus, with turkey signing what could we offer them? no need for shane now.
Morey will not trade Battier for middle-of-the-road players who can't create shots or mismatches. Battier is not just a glue guy, he is your best defender and leader ("Every lose ball is ours!"). And why would you want a player who is going to cry over picking up players who is going make your team better? I'll pass.
Why would Portland give up their premier players for our scrubs ? It's not like the NBA feels bad for the Rockets. All the other teams want to win and Portland would have no reason to make a trade like this.
I would love to see Oden in Houston. I think he has bone issues with his body like Yao does, but I believe he can put in a good 5 years before his body begins to deteriorate.
