Maybe...butsay if for argument sake we do trade for darko, and he does get minutes as a backup C/PF, where does that leave landry?. i mean yao is gonna play atleast thirty two minutes a night at the center spot. that leaves that leaves sixteen minutes for darko... so far we agree?. and say scola plays twenty six minutes a night at the PF spot, thats leaves twenty two minutes to slice between landry and darko. i say darko gets of those minutes, that bumps up he's minutes to twenty. that leaves only sixteen minutes for landry. not to mention we are planning to alternate both artest and battier allready through the PF spot anyway.

So in conclusion, do you think darko is gonna be happy with anyting from eightenn to twenty minutes a night? or will landry Re-sign for something like sixteen to eighteen minutes of playing time. bringing darko here when you dont have the minutes to keep him happy is a recipe for disaster. hes gonna be a cancer.

Here is the thing with Yao so hear me out... He has been playing year around ball for awhile now and is needing some rest. He's coming off a major injury and really hasn't had the time to adjust slowly(heal) from the injury. Because he has been injured the past 3 out of 4 season we should lower his minutes played at least in the 1st half of the season. We need to save Yao and really start averaging 30 min in the 2nd half and playoffs (Where it is needed most)

Darko provides that insurance because history has shown he is more likely going to get hurt than not. And if not (Pray to the Gods) he can get more min sitting out resting in for the games (2nd half), Playoff push games. I only say this is because a man his size needs to really limit his minutes. If you are wanting Yao to be Yao for the next 4-6 years you need to limit his minutes. He's to large and big men (especially his size) tend to go down hill quick if playing heavy minutes in the season. To many times do I see huffing and puffing in the 4th because the defense turns it up. I don't blame Yao it's just that he's to big and the fact the opposing team abuses him with double, triple, men who come in just to tack on 6 fouls and body him.

Also what if Landry knee is jacked up then we are screwed. Darko is a insurance policy that works.

I meant to say history has shown that Yao is more likely going to get hurt than not.

Yao wont get anything under then thirty minutes a night. even with the addition of artest, thats just the way it is. we need yao out there atleast thirty or thirty plus minutes a night to be successfull. so in essence if you're theory is based on yao getting he's minutes reduced so darko gets enough minutes to be happy, it aint gonna happen. thats just the way it is.

Look i can certianly understand the notion yao getting more rest and all, but thats just the way were built. we need yao to play at the very least THIRTY MINUTES a night. frankly to tell you the truth,i dont see how yao would be happy with seeing anything under thirty minutes a night. he's our most effecient scorer and our second best player. you just reduce he's minutes so much in one spurt.

Say yao get thirty minutes now. i've gone down by two minutes from previouse number of thirty two minutes. that will still leave eighteen minutes for darko. and honestly, with us trying to alternate battier and artest through the PF spot, and landry to think of, i dont see darko getting any minutes at the pf spot. that just really leaves around minutes for darko. thats just not gonna make him happy.

Honestly I don't think you will get it... Yao will get hurt period. Its how we can prevent, speed up recovery, or have a very good replacement in the short term.. Again your missing the point of saving him for the 2nd half (Play off push) Yao needs rest period and again you will see that in the year. And will Darko be happy with 20 min a game hell yes... He's not going to even start in Memphis what does that tell you. He hasn't been a starter his whole career and we are not wanting Darko to play anything close to starter minutes. Insurance Insurance Insurance... If we sign Deke ( I'm hoping ) he's also more likely to get injured just because of his AGE... and again going back to Landry his Knee is a big suspect. Darko doesn't have any of those injury plague problems and we are needing a very effective player in limited minutes again.

Artest actually helps the "Yao needs rest" situation becuase when Yao went out we didn't have a 3rd scorer to put points onthe board. We do now and Deke or any serviceable center will work. I think Dorsey is small for the center spot but maybe he can swing it.

    DON"T KID YOURSELF!!

The Rockets if they are to be a complete team, they NEED a back up center! One young enough that he can learn to play both ends of the court, Mutombo can only play limited games (about 25) and only at one end of the court. He should retire! Get Landry signed 2.75 mil for two seasons and Elston for 2.5 for two seasons
Dorsey and Scola have other duties do not try and over use them with duties as a poor man's center!! :p

Yetti-- I agree with you completely.

I was at the Boston game that ended our win-streak last year, and their height was a complete mismatch for us. We were one shot and done and weren't able to grab any rebounds. Perkins was able to put away garbage buckets and the Rockets didn't have a chance. When the Rockets shots aren't falling, the team really began to show how short the lineup was. Artest changes things quite a bit, but let's still address other weaknesses where they exist.

Yes Yes Yes we need to get taller at the 4 position and backup 5.... Elie and Yetti can see the light :) I just can't see us out rebounding the title contenders in clutch situations in the paint..

We can play small ball..but small ball won't bring the champion...

    I don't know, it's still a question.

:p but i believe Moray could fix it well.

I never said we dont need a backup. i said a ego maniac and a proven cancer like darko wont be happy with scrap type minutes. someone like elson who is used to it and wont pout or creat friction is a much better choice. think of the team chemistry to.
