I forgot- I was at the game - Toyota Center got really loud. The fans were great. We do have a good home crowd- no one will want to play us at our home!
Agreed. Losing by 3 to them is not the end of the world but, I really expected a better effort collectively from the team. Inconsistent to say the least. If that would have been a playoff series loss then ... we would be doomed.
I don't think there's anything wrong with a fan showing his frustration over a tough loss. Nor is there one that complains about it.
The point is that every game the Rockets have a chance to make a stand and prove a point they fall apart. Which shows a greater problem with this team, the lack of leadership and identity. The Rockets this year are going nowhere - and that is too bad, because IMHO, they could be going somewhere with the talent on the squad. While they play hard for JVG - ultimately, IMHO, his antics and tactics will cause them to fall short. DD
except for the game right before this one where they had a chance to make a stand and prove a point, and they won. Or except for the time they played Utah before this one, and they killed them. There are just as many examples where they didn't win. Over-analyzing a tema based on one loss, is one of the most over-reactionary things folks can do, and yet it is going on like crazy. The Rockets just won two important games in LA. They often say that the hardest games to win are the very first games after a road trip. They had two big games in LA, fought hard for wins in those, and then this was their first game back at home after the road trip. That doesn't excuse a loss, but is within the realm of what happens in the NBA. It doesn't mean everyone needs to panic.
The difference in those games in LA is that there was nothing truly on the line in those games. This game was much greater in importance as to the standings and as to a mental standpoint as the Jazz and Rockets are going to tangle in the opening round of the playoffs. The Rockets really needed this game, read the players quotes prior to the game, they knew it, and they blew it. This team is mentally soft, and that is going to ultimately be their downfall..... DD
Panic posters are just plain irritating. The reason that 80% of the posters here are negative after a loss like this is because most of the fans are disgusted with the panic posts, and don't want to extend the life of these threads, hoping if we ignore them, they'll go away. If you try to put up an intelligent response, they react dichotomously, and push everything to the opposite extreme, instead of the intelligent fan discussion of the reality of the middle. But some posters do just go on and on and on ... geez. Look, JVG isn't perfect, Yao isn't perfect, TMac isn't perfect, Rafer is certainly far from perfect (especially last night ... ugh). They need to improve in order to get to a championship level. It's fine to discuss how we can improve, and to get irritated with various players or the coach's performance. But, the personal attacks, and giving up on the year after losing by 3 points to Utah is just ... (shaking my head) Kicking the team and coach when they are down doesn't show any respect to our team or to the rest of the supportive fans. Players read these forums, and have feelings. They need our support right now.
yea, if the Rockets win the championship that year, you'd be defending them from all the other folks saying it didn't count. just like it didn't count when Jordan was out of the league.
Are you kidding me? You are worried about JVG and the players feelings? The NBA is a meritocracy, if players play well and coaches coach well, they deserve all the flowerly prasies they get. If they choke and suck, they deserve all the negativity they get. It is all a matter of perspective, some fans are just happy go lucky fans - let the chips fall where they may and cheer for their teams. Other fans go up and down with each loss or victory. Fans are fans......geez if the Rockets players are upset about fans getting down on them, then keep them out of Philly...... poor babies ! DD
I was/am one of those really pissed off posters after the game but after making this: Captioned: Skip to my Loo My anger is cooling. Maybe Clutch should bring back the Photoshop the Pain thread so we can channel our rage in more positive directions.
It depends on the type of person you are, if you like analyzing the game, and talking about ball and getting excited and emotional - win or lose than I am great to watch a game with. If you are a fan who just likes to watch and does not get too involved, probably not gonna like sitting with me. I like to get into it.......to me that is what being a fan is all about. No cussing though, I got kids ! DD
I liken the comparison to sitting beside and listening to a woman on PMS as watching a game with you...tell me if I'm not hitting the bullseye on that one...
I don't know they are going to lose, I expected them to win last night. I KNOW the chances of this team winning this year without homecourt in any round are pretty darned slim. And, I don't want to come on and say " I told you so " if the Rockets lose a game, that is not any fun. I want the Rockets to win every single game, and I believe they have a chance, but I am a pragmatic person - a lot like JVG, who believes that the team just doesn't have enough to do any real damage in the playoffs. At least not this year......which is why I have wanted the bench to be developed more....so we can get closer to a championship next year......and the year after...and the year after..... DD
Not even close, I love the exciting plays, and DVR them back and forth and dissect what is going on with my pals.... Tmac's dunk over Kirlenko got talked a LOT about.....too bad it didn't count. Also, Tmac's alley ooop dunk late that just went over Boozer's outstretched hands was amazing. But the play that got the most attention with myself and my boys was Yao's put back dunk on a Tmac miss. I showed my 2 boys how Yao saw the play developing and sealed his man with his body allowing him the easy put back dunk. DD
