To me, if you're going to retire a number, you don't let a player wear it after that. Les didn't hesitate to give Trevor the number 1 jersey which tells me TMac is not in the conversation. He just didn't do enough for Houston to merit that high level type of reward. It's better than the hall of fame and Tracy barely squeaks in for me.

I don't think McGrady deserves his jersey to be retired.

    Woah. Tinman's mind just exploded.

Maybe if he retired a Rocket without the "Toronto Game" and the unannounced surgery and the friction with coaches and the front office.

I remembered reading it on Wikipedia a while back and assumed he was wearing one since it looks identical to Olajuwon's at first glance. I'm assuming the blue is in there since it was the pinstripe Rockets (shark rocket) era.

    (Nice shir-o-khorshid btw)

But he accomplished nothing as far as playoff success .
He only played 20 games in the post season.
If Jesus only played 20 games god wouldn't retire his number

I'd rather they retire Shane or Steve's first

    Max Salary Player
    6 Seasons with Team
    3 playoff appearances
    20 playoff games
    0 playoff series victories

    Absolutely unacceptable.
If Harden did this, he would be traded based on lack of production.

Harden would not be traded, even if his stats were identical in every way to T-Mac's.

This isn't even a fight you need to be a part of dude. Even fans of T-Mac know he simply didn't do enough over his entire tenure as a rocket, regardless of how spectacular he was moment to moment, to warrant retiring his jersey.

Tmac and Yao never had the rosters Harden has had until it was too late unfortunately.

Where is Shaq at in that picture? After 4 years in the league he was already a top 50 player all time?

Sounds like player only fan excuse

When Tmac left Toronto, Toronto won a playoff series without him.
When Tmac left Orlando, they got Dwight and made it to the finals.
When Tmac sat and ate potato chips, the Rockets won a playoff series without him.
When Tmac went to Atlanta, they lost in the first round .

So did all the teams he started in his entire career not capable of winning 1 playoff series?

Well given those staring lineups he had the answer would be yes.

What was the best starting lineup Yao and Tmac had at their disposal during their first couple seasons here?

We should retire his jersey in the Raptor's stadium when we play there because that's where he quit playing for us.

We should've beaten the Jazz but Yao couldn't guard Boozer and coaching did nothing to adjust.

Stop lumping Yao into McGrady's failure. Yao made it out of the first round.

The Rockets won 50 games 3 times with Yao/McGrady. They even had a 22 game winning streak.
They had home court advantage against Utah and lost in front of the fans.

Sorry Montiejunas fan, I'm from the OLAJUWON ERA, I demand better from my Rockets team and my superstars.

How many more series did Yao win than Tmac?

And for the record I'm from the Olajuwon, Francis, Yao, Tmac, Harden era. Love all those guys along with the Dmo's, Scola's, Lowry's, Mandry's. :)

They answer is DID NOT not should have.

JVG's weakness was he had too much faith that 2 players could carry the roster on offense with a bunch of defensive role players.
JVG and Tmac were tied together. Once JVG left, Tmac didn't like Rick's motion offense , hence we had the "Toronto Game".
