    I just googled this one.
i think this was during the time he was getting injured a lot. and according to the broadcaster, T-Mac said he could only play one game during back-to-back games. I think this one against Toronto was not supposed to play him. i think he was getting scared of getting injured again.

Tracy, together with Yao, have given Houston some of its best years. It was those years and it was T-Mac, that I became a Rockets fan forever, Props.

Those were just 2 plays from one game. I'm sure if you went nitpicking for that with any superstar you could find at least one. Unless he was doing this every play, then thats a completely different story.

It means the leader of the Rockets who gets paid Max Salary is not showing leadership .
Without leadership from your 'best' player, your team will fail. Especially in the playoffs.

I know you are young and became a fan because of Tracy, but you simply cannot ignore Rockets history.
Even if you ignore, Moses, Elvin, Sampson, even Dream.

Harden has surpassed Tracy in EVERYTHING as a Rocket.

And for us, the ones who have a higher standard because we witnessed greatness, it's sad that people think the Tracy era was so fantastic, when the Spurs, Lakers, Heat, Pistons, and other teams are winning championships while this favorite hero of yours can't take us out of the godamn first round.

Absolute failure of a tenure. I thought when we got rid of Steve Francis we would at least make to the WCF with Tmac/Yao.

Sorry, you're wrong. This is well documented and we all saw it. Your google skilz aren't very good.

He was scheduled to play that game. It was the following game he was scheduled not to play. If he didn't feel well like you assume, he could have taken himself out. He didn't. He just quit. And didn't care that he made his teammates play 4 on 5. And he also did it in philly too.

i don't know what you have meant by history. Some of his plays will remain as legacy for the team, for the franchise. 22 wins, 3513.
and talking about leadership, and his endeavor playing in the playoff games, look at the number he put up with for playoff games, nothing less than what Lebron is doing nowadays.
sometimes you can't judge it by getting out of 1st round. the series against Dallas was simply hacked by the officials. and the series with Utah was so close in G7. and it was Yao to blame for that series, because no one can guard Okur, and C Boozer.
It was a pity that God was not with us that night. But no one can tell what fortune theirs' would be. T-Mac has tried his best to get out from 1st round, not only for the team, but also for himself.

He has played his heart for Houston!!! and today he still loves Houston.

History is what has happened in the past, like Tracy McGrady's history which you seemed to purposely forget his failures.

History of the Houston Rockets Franchise in Houston which you have ignored.

Tmac went on the air and said he wished he never left Toronto recently.

Lots of NBA players and Athletes live in Houston, there's no state tax and real estate is cheap.

Yao got out of the first round with Tmac. Tmac didn't like Rick Adelman's ball sharing offense.

    https://www.thestar.com/sports/bask..._wishes_he_had_stayed_in_toronto_feschuk.html

Tracy McGrady wishes he had stayed with Toronto Raptors:
In hindsight … I wish I had stayed in Toronto,” T-Mac says. “There’s no doubt we could have contended for a championship. I think about that often.

THE HISTORY OF THE ROCKETS DID NOT START WHEN TMAC JOINED THE ROCKETS. ANYONE WHO THINKS THIS SHOULD BE TERMINATED.

I would lean towards no. I was a big t-mac fan but I hated the way he left. He was selfish, petty, and a bad teammate at the end.

He was super talented, but he never won a playoff series.....ever.....thats really bad and he simply doesn't make the cut for me

Rockets fans that were living game to game in 2009 like me will find it read hard to forgive T-Mac for that year's performance. Unfortunately, it closed the book on his career as a Rocket, and pretty much his career as a viable NBA starter as well. No one should hold 2005, 2007, or 2008 against him. But 2009, damn man.

I'm not saying it can never happen. He had all the talent to get his jersey retired and more; hell he averaged 32ppg in a defense-heavy era with the Magic before coming over. But the heart wasn't there...

Maybe one day the die-hards will forgive him and remember his legacy more fondly. But if it happens, it'll have to be another decade or so until we consider it.

I was gonna start this thread but I knew tinman would hijack it!

When you look at the guys that have had their jersey retired around the league... Tmac should be a no brainer.

And those of you pointing out that Ariza wears #1... Interesting that I have to point this out, but it's because... wait for it... it hasn't been retired yet! Wether or not you like Tmac, he's easily in the top 5 or 6 (maybe 7) players in Rockets history. He was the face of this franchise for a long time. Once he makes the HOF, his jersey will be retired.
