If T-Mac and Yao healthy next year we will be a championship contender.
We need the same squad next year and we need to stay healthy

15.6ppg, 39%fg, 27%3pt this playoffs. that is just not going to get it done. clearly stats aren't everything, but that is just not going to get it done.

again, when i said he's not "that good." i never said he wasn't good or sucked. he's just not a player that is worth more than $8mi/year, which i hope is the most we're offering him. and i'm sure that is less that what he is seeking. so yes, he's not that good for the money he's most likely going to ask for.

People forget that Artest made a paltry 8.5 mil this year. When I say paltry, I mean Lamar-Odom-is-being-paid-14-mil paltry.

As for him wanting more money, I know Ron sometimes is one marble short of a full bag but he knows he won't be able to command more than the 8.5 he earned this year. So for the ones that say "Yes re-sign him but no more than 8" you better pencil Artest into the starting lineup next year.

Artest has his deficiencies (thinking he's a much better offensive player than he really is) but he brought the Rockets what no one else could the past few years: toughness, heart and confidence.

You can show me "stats" I'll show you results. We made it to Game 7 of the Western Conference semi-finals. I'll take leadership, intangibles and the desire to win over stats any day of the week.

tmac didn't have good experienced role players, it was tmac and a hurt yao last year. so getting past the first round had nothing to do with tmac being hurt, it had to with we played a very unexperienced and young blazers team.
ron artest does not bring the offensive power like tmac does and ron usually chucks up a very bad shot, he hurt us on the offensive side. if i had a choice between tmac and artest shooting the ball i'd pick tmac any day.

I believe this is a fallacy. Tmac and Yao would of beaten the Portland team as well. Its all about matchups and that pair just happened to get the Jazz which is the worst possible.

I'll agree that Shane and Luis played their assess off but I also would like to know who do YOU think we could sign on the FA market that is better than Artest

I think if you would ask the players they would want him back.

For the right price and years I want him back too. McGrady isn't expected back with the team until mid-season and might even get traded ... you could do worse than Ron Artest. Plus it will be the second year of Adelman's offense for him and that experience could help a little in his shot selection. You could always trade him if a better fit presents itself.

I'll thank Shane, Scola, Artest and Brooks for that. Unlike you, I don't hate any of the players, so I can give credit objectively.

That's your opinion. But the fact of that matter is, a Yao and Artest-led Rockets team almost made the WCFs.

Every good team has a playmaker.

    cavs: lebron
    lakers: kobe
    celtics: peirce
    hornets: paul
    nuggets: carmelo
    ect.

the rockets really need tmac wheter u like it or not. hes a playmaker and creates a ton of offense. artest is not a playmaker, hes a role player who brings good defense.

artest is very inconsistent. he dominates the ball too much and overall doesnt have a high bball iq. i wouldnt mind him staying for cheap but i wouldnt mind him walking.

It's unfathomable to me that someone will hoist up the stats of a pre-microfracture surgery Grady as a comparison for anything. He won't even be able to have full-contact scrimmage until next years' All Star break. Other than what can be obtained for Grady's expiring contract, he's a non-issue for the 2009-2010 Rockets.

T-Mac had experienced roleplayers the year we lost to Dallas. He also had experienced roleplayers 2 years ago when we lost to Utah. As for having a choice between T-Mac and Artest, I'm still trying to figure this out. Some of you guys are making this Artest vs McGrady. McGrady is under contract, and we can sign Artest. We would actually have both of them. And, until McGrady shows me the ability to carry a team in the playoffs I'm still not comfortable with him being the "leader".
