If you thought the Jazz feared the Rockets in last years' playoffs, you were watching the games in a parallel universe. And you bought into the foolishness of not evaluating Streak 22 by the level of competition. The Jazz NEVER once looked intimidated. It was the same "we can turn it on when we need to" attitude the Laker$ just displayed.

    Regarding Ron...

    * Grady ain't comin' back and if he does it'll a fraction of what he once was
    * Yao's yearly injuries now make his impact closer to Rik Smits than Dream
    * After what I just observed vs LA, everyone should be on the trading block except Yao and Scolandry.
    * If Artest is not too expensive, maybe. Otherwise, we still need a TALL perimeter put-it-on the floor SG/SF and a TALL mobile backup C. If an Artest SnT gets you those, pull the trigger.

I hope they will re-sign him. He jacked up way too many questionable shots against the Lakers but I blame that more on the offense not having Yao down low. The first 3 games against the Lakers Ron was shooting close to 50%. The last 4 were atrocious and I think that's where Yao comes in. I expect and know that Artest will play better once Yao (and maybe McGrady) comes back. A solid player who can probably be had for 8 mil or less.

Some of you Tmac fans forgot already what happened this season.

After Tmac went down the team "SUDDENLY" got better and "SUDDENLY" made it past the first round.

Now just like TMac you want to throw RON ARTEST under the bus for being a TRU TEAMMATE and TRU WARIER and.. TRU ROCKET?

Whatever. Somebody break a leg off a table please.

read my early comment, i said he was worth an MLE. I only said 8 mill because that's what someone said to offer Artest, i said instead offer it to someone else. I did not mean that Chris Anderson is worth 8 million. Clearly he is not.

Lee is a good rebounder and he puts up a lot of double/doubles but he can't defend worth a damn. I guess you could use him as the backup big and fit him in with Scolandry but the fit on the Rox isn't ideal. I would rather get Al Harrington, streaky outside shooter, but his ability to create and his jumper is what we need IMO.

ron shot 41% fg and 27% 3pt in the portland series WITH yao. it's just artest.

but like i said, if he is willing to sign for $8 mil, then yes, i would love to have him b/c that's all he's worth at most. if he wants more, then please not.

What about Caron Butler? I know Daryl Morey was trying to get him in the trade deadline. I wonder if we could pick him up in the off-season. Caron is a great scorer, defender and is very versatile.

Maybe we should trade Tracy for him since he's a juicy expiring contract. Caron could play the 2.

tinman, have a reasonable discussion please. your response is truly childish.

you replace ron artest with stephen jackson and the same thing would happen. we have arguably the best group of role players in the L and have scorers from top to bottom. it wasn't just ron. he was PART of the supporting cast. nobody's throwing him under the bus. he's just not that good.

Dear Morey, Although I was 100% for signing Ron Artest I am now realise that his game is just not what it used to be.
No longer is he a decent defender.
No longer is he a decent scorer
and most of all he seldom plays within the team concept.Infact he is a ball hoganda poor passer.
His dominent strong personality no longer makes up for his problems on the court.
If we are building a contending team we need players with talent who can play within the team game.
Artest could be in a sign & trade!
If we intend to keep him he should not be offered big money. :p

dude you tmac fans have a reasonable discussion.

all you guys do is "IF THIS IF THAT"

you don't face the reality. Reality = with Ron we've done more than what we've done with Tmac

Reality= with Ron he's been only praising his team, not saying crap to SI like "was not fortunate to play with Shaq or Tim Duncan"

    Reality= Ron is a leader

I know Ron is not the primary player on our team, but he's not the 20 million dollar loser either.

Artest's no quit attitude and toughness alone makes him invaluable. People forget the intangibles this man brings. He expects to compete for championships, that's something that we need on this team.

Its a no brainer, of course you resign him. Just don't break the bank to do it. Add some athletic size and another scorer and the rockets will be tough.

This has to be the most idiotic comment I have ever read. Our role players don't do anything if Artest doesn't help lead them. As for him not being that good, clearly you don't know anything about basketball if you really believe that. Even Magic Johnson himself considers Artest a star. Michael Jordan as well.

Amen brother. Some people may think I live in the past, but its the people who ALREADY take for granted what happened this year that are living in the past.

Ron Artest has shown more love to the Rockets fans and city and CLUTCHFANS more than that 'other' dude ever did.

    That's just a fact.

I thought his post was perfectly on topic. He said that he thought Artest was a leader, and I agree. If you saw the way Yao fed off of Artest's energy and toughness you would know that Artest is a leader. And a winner. Something we haven't had the last few years.

I am on topic, reality is we made it to the 2nd round and played with toughness with Ron Artest

But I understand you care only about offensive stats.

    not defense and leadership.
