Battier provides the toughness that Artest does? To the entire team?

This is so out there I can only conclude you are on your 2nd or 3rd bottle of wine.

Please show me where I said, let him walk for nothing?....

And Wafer is efficient as a scorer......and is getting better...

There are NOT a lot of guys like him for $2 million a year in the NBA...he is quicker than most PGs, can jump through the roof and has major finishing ability.

If you can sign him for $2 million, then you do it.....that is a great deal for a guy who gets you 10ppg off the bench while shooting 45% and 40% from 3pt land...he is AWESOME at cutting and playing with Yao....

Ron Artest however is just not as good as he thinks he is...is inefficient as a player, and is going to want more money than the team should be willing to offer....

S&T for Ron is what I am hoping for....

You don't think Battier is tough? You think the team follows ANYTHING that Ron does.

You know better Gater.....the team knows he is crazy too.....

And they DEFER to him too much...that is part of the problem....Ron has an incredibly strong will, but he is not a leader, is not worth it...

Get him out of the way and let the young guys step up.....the team will be better off without him.

Please explain to me how Ron is athletic or a greyhound.....please !!

    ;)

Well we are so quick to get rid of Ron and basically underrate his defense...while Ariza and Odom the two guys Artest guarded were either having average games or horrible ones throughout this series.

Also Lebron ain't going nowhere, and from what we have seen...Artest is to Lebron what Battier is to Kobe...Artest is the only guy who is as strong and laterally quick as Lebron.

You can't underrate having TWO guys like that and also Artest can have a good offensive game ANY night...and if Tmac does indeed make any type of comeback then Artest's Offense won't really be needed as much.

Or he doesn't want to come back. It's going to epic to see some of the poster's reactions here if Artest decides to leave us for more money or go to the Lakers/Jazz/Mavs/Spurs.

It would be great if he could take a one year deal with us, just so he could join what might be the final year of the T-Mac/Yao era. I'd still like to see all of them on the court healthy and see what happens.

    Good find.

Read the part about "No Pay Required"

I really hope that Morey brings back Artest for cheap.

I can't blame him for going for more money elsewhere, but IMO, it would be a stupid move for him. More than likely DM will overpay for him, I'm just hoping Ron takes a lower salary for the good of the team.

Keep Tracy and let Ron Walk..... Over rated and has been since the day we got him. Even if we trade Tracy let Ron walk. Wafer has proved to be the back up 6th man we've needed. Let Ron walk and let's go out there and find a back up big man that really can relieve minutes for Yao. That's priority one. Fact is Ron Artest was brought here to hold down the Kobe's, Lebron's, Roy's. He has proven he just can't do it anymore.

Yes, unless we get a better offer.

    But do not overpay.

IF we can cget Artest for 10 mill, i'd take it. Thats a steal, consdiering what he provides.

To put it in context, Luol Deng and Mike Bibby make 10 mill per, and Artest is of way more value to the Rockets than those two are to their squads.

If not Artest, then i want Birdman from the Nuggets. He's a free agent i believe.

I'm really on the fence about this. He isn't nearly as good on defense as he used to be and his shot selection is god-awful...but if the price is right, I think we have to keep him.

Artest was the primary defender for Lebron and Lebron had his worst career night in Toyota Center.

Kobe and Roy are too quick for Ron, but big guys like Lebron and Melo are better suited for him then Battier because even if Battier cuts their lane to the rim he just gets moved out of the way.

Yes Artest isn't all about Money, he's also about trust and respect.

Plus we can offer him the money and a chance to win and play for his apparently favorite coach.

Also to me you don't overpay on guys if it's a legitimate shot at a title.

Did you watch this last series with the Lakers? Wafer stunk it up.

Yes, Ron's lost a step. He's getting older and can't guard the top players of the league anymore. But he provides a lot of help to Battier on defense. Battier can't do it all himself. Artest is only looking bad now because he's trying to fill the void of T-Mac and Yao. He's just not good enough for that.

Artest wasn't brought here to lock-down Kobe and such, we already had Battier for that. Artest was brought in to bring in more tough, physical play. He was also brought in as a second/third scoring option behind our two superstars.

Ron is the HEART of this team. Anyone who does not want him back next season is utterly clueless.

Don't let Ron walk and go to the Lakers or Spurs. Sign him and then trade him. Either way if he signs for dirt cheap keep him but I highly doubt he'll sign for cheap so let him walk. Fact is we need something a little more reliable than Artest. He isn't a reliable second scorer or third. He can't catch and shoot like battier... It isn't like he is a bad player but I just don't see him fitting into our future.
