I think most of the southeast or deep south is mainly white bread, though I know there are alot of african-americans. I'm Asian and I wouldn't live in Mississippi or Arkansas if you paid me.
The Pacific northwest seems like heaven to me. But then, I've only been there for a couple weeks at a time, so I'm sure there's all sorts of nasty things that I don't know about. I enjoyed living in Boston, MA the most of all the places I've been for more than a couple of months. Fantastic array of stuff to do... but still has a sort of "town" atmosphere, rather than "city."
