You know that a normal person can wrap their fingers almost all around a tennis ball? Kind of exaggerating there man. The reason why pesky guards never poke the ball away from shaq is because simply shaq is stronger. He has a lot stonger grip than Yao. I'm sure he has bigger hands than Yao but it's not that much bigger I bet. It might be fatter (wider) than other centers, but I'm sure it's not that much longer.
Hell No!!! Shaq is the most dominating player in the NBA and I would take him over Yao every single time and I'm sure all the other NBA teams including the Rockets would to. As a die heart Rocket fan I have watched every game and have seen the upside of Yao and I still would take Shaq who truley is dominating, something Yao will never become.
I think he lost track of Shaq's true age when he started down the "$30m/year in two years when he's 34" pathway. If Shaq were 34 today, he'd be 10.5 years older than Yao. (He's actually 8.5).
Yep, rattling the rim is dominating. If the guy couldn't dunk, he'd be nothing. Yao has the other aspects of the game, better than Shaq. Getting to the rim and dunking more often is less of a task for Yao to persue, than it would be for Shaq to learn to shoot free throws, or shoot at all for that matter. You can't see the future.

I remember reading reports that said Shaq shoot a much better FT in practice than in game. If that's true, your theory won't hold much water.
