PG: Rafer / James SG: T-Mac / Head / Francis SF: Battier / Bonzi PF: Scola / Hayes C: Yao / Hayes i see the rotation being something like that head will be getting good minutes
To everyone putting Battier on the bench, did you miss the memo where Adelman cleary said that he will be starting? Look at Jeff's post earlier in this thread as well. Battier is going to start, so give it a rest! As of right now, Tracy, Yao, and Shane are the starters. The other two positions are up for grab. Personally, I think Alston and Scola will take those two positions.
Right now I think the rotation should look like this: C-Yao 35min/Deke 8min/Scola 5min PF-Scola 23min/Hayes 20min/Battier 5min SF-Battier 20min/T-Mac 15min/Bonzi 13min SG-T-Mac 20min/Bonzi 9min/Francis 19min PG-Alston 22min/James 19min/Francis 7min Totals: 10 men rotation Yao 35mpg T-Mac 35mpg Scola 28mpg Francis 26mpg Alston 22mpg Bonzi 22mpg Hayes 20mpg James 19mpg Deke8 mpg Brooks Head Off course you can take some minutes from Francis and give it to Alston or James , and some minutes from Bonzi and give it to Battier but thats pretty much it.
Finally someone with some sense! Yea, I see a rotation somewhat similar to that, except I don't think Deke will get 8 minutes per game. I think he's going to be just an insurance policy, and Scola will be manning the back up center position as well as the starting PF position. When Yao goes out, we go small. We don't bring in Deke and get slower. Other than that, I think you hit the mark with those predictions. It'll be something like that (unless Luther cracks the rotation somehow).
mmmmmmmm Mints. I sure hope to see those guys playing Mins (the standard abbreviation for "minutes").
Bonzi is too good to be only getting 22 mins a game. that's what he averaged LAST season. he will get at least 28 minutes a game, defintely more minutes than Francis.
Scola needs to be in a starting lineup, rox need three all-star starters this year. RA may take this in consideration.
butler and snyder cannot go to the D-League because they have been in the league longer than 3 years [I think thats the limit]. so itd have to be landry and brooks
Coming off the bench. Luther will get his moments, unless he gets traded, because he's arguably the team's most accurate 3 point shooter. He won't play as much as last year but he provides instant offense. I predict he'll play a role similar to Eddie House for Phoenix a couple years back. He'll play 15-20 minutes and score around 10 points a game mostly off threes.
how could anyone come up this thread w/o knowing any bball? just look at our roster. give me anyone who is willing to sacrifice his offense and body to play defense. and at same time, he is fast enough and taller enough to cover 2 or 3. don't tell me tmac. if you really want tmac to do this job, then you should forget about him to take over at the end of games. you might have to check the injury list for him.
I would love for Scola to start, adding that much needed 3rd option to Yao/TMAC. But once Adelman figures out his team, he is likely gonna have Scola come off the bench behind Hayes similar to what Pop did with Ginobili at the second half of last season. Make no mistake, Scola deserves to make the starting lineup. He is solid at the PF and can be placed, presently, ahead of Hayes. But NBA success is about matchups and team chemistry. Without these two, all the talent in the world couldn't save a team from imploding. If the past two games are of any indication, we have only 4 guys on our team that has the potential to be playmakers: 1). TMAC 2). Yao 3). Rafer and 4). Scola. Battier, Hayes, Head, Deke, and Bonzi are role players that serve a specific purpose on the team, whether offensive or defensive. Francis and James can break the opposing defense down by creating their own shots and drive the lane. Looking at this, there is no need to put all 4 of our playmakers in the same lineup. It would be a waste. A starting lineup of TMAC, Yao, Hayes, Battier, and Alston has proven to get the job done (a la last season), and it works well within Adelman's system. Why not save Scola for the second unit then? Last night, when our 4 playmakers are on the bench, the offense was a mess. No rhythm, coordination, or timing. I felt like I was watching the "youth movement" from last season's Celtics. When Scola was put out there, that was when the team started to regroup and played some solid basketball. In sum, we're a deep and talented team, and we NEED Scola to be the catalyst for the second unit. This might be a blow to his ego since he deserves to be a starter. But I'm sure he's willing to make the sacrifice for the better of the team just like fellow Argentine Ginobili did for the Spurs.
PG: Rafer SG: T-Mac SF: Battier PF: Hayes C: Yao I predict exactly the same as last year for the first 10-15 games. then James and Scola in, and Tmac move to 3. PG: Rafer SG: James SF: T-Mac PF: Scola C: Yao
Very insighful post! I somehow agree with you. Chemistry is very important for a team and you don't break down a already established winning lineup for a reason. It sounds good that Luis comes off bench, virtually being the sub of Yao as the high post play maker for the second unit of the team. His role could be perfectly matching what Manu did for Spurs in the last season. I won't be surprised to see Hayes start for this team. However, when the game is on the line, I pretty much sure Scola will be the guy on the court.
I agree with watashi's idea..our team is so deep that we'll probably have two very good 'units'... one unit consisting of Rafer/T-mac/Shane/Hayes/Yao where they mainly feed yao in the lowpost (incorporating some Adelman offense of course) and another unit where Scola is anchored at the high post and guards like James, Francis, Bonzi, or Head are cutting and running around...and probably a hybrid unit of Yao/Scola/Bonzi where we do a bit of both. Overall, our lineups are gonna be very dependent on which lineup can defeat the other team easiest..no one lineup is the best
