That's like writing Akeem off because he had only been playing basketball for about a year when he came to U of H.

Don't underestimate someone's potential on such a small sampling of media coverage.

She may never rise to the "top" office, or even the second one in the nation, but she has a much longer career ahead of her than most seem to want to acknowledge.

Furthermore, how you can make that statement at the end, and still vote Obama is equivalent to sticking your head in the sand. Why not hold him to the same set of rules?

Why not? She won't need it until she assumes office.

And I think people are being unduly harsh about her preparedness.

Exactly how is Obama really prepared? Sitting on committee hearings? He's the one who is running for prez...

I imagine that she is far more knowledgeable than you and me. She's been a state governor for God's sake-- quit citing PTA president as the zenith of her career, please!

That's a horrible quote for two reasons. Hakeem played in a sport that was entertainment. Palin has the future of American in her hands, and coming into her own possibly for the 4 years isn't going to cut it. She has no express personal opinions of her own, at least from this debate, so she's basically a yes woman for McCain. That's dangerous in itself. It's good to have people to disagree with you on your staff. It's good to have people that you can confide in because they may have more insight in a specific area. What exactly can McCain turn to Palin for? If she did become President, what opinions of her own could she come up? Seriously. She's just a walking talking point with a bunch of you betchas and back in Alaska stories.

Second reason is Hakeem would totally kick ass at being VP far better than Palin. He has better foreign policy experience than Palin. Is a well known philanthropist. Is extremely dedicated to his faith more than Palin in my opinion. And if it comes down to it, he's ready to throw down. Plus if McCain came to Hakeem for advice on how to use the Dreamshake, Hakeem would probably add another 30 years to McCain's life because of his workout experience. Then there would be no heart beat away discussion. Get it done McCain!

    What a moronic statement.

So if somebody cares about the well-being of the country, they will support the same candidate you do? I guess it's true after all...you are either with us or against us. Bush would be very proud of you right now.

You're comparing a legendary hero to a woman you knew nothing about until a month ago ?

No it is like taking Akeem straight from Nigeria and one year of bb and making him the starting center for your team in the NBA Finals.

In addition the presidency is no place for beginners even if talented.

Bahaha.... I was thinking how many posters on this board are far more knowledgeable on current and world affairs than Palin. There are probably 25 or 30 regular posters here that would beat her down in a debate and she'd be stuck with but gee wiz yall, they hate us for our freedoms!!

Moderator: Governor Palin, can you please explain your position on social security solvency?

Pail: I wanna talk about ENERGY!! Drill baby drill!!

I won't disagree she has a long career ahead of her. She definately has that "something". But that doesn't mean she is ready NOW. Maybe the next election or two. But she's clearly not ready now.

Obama has clearly demonstrated that he is capable to going toe-to-toe in a debate with McCain ...who is more experienced. Obama has demonstrated he has a FIRM grasp of the issues ...Palin has not.

But Palin clearly did not beat Biden by any measure ...except "charm" and regurgitating the talking points.

I don't know how anybody can argue that Palin is ready to be president in this election.

A little off topic but why is it that more and more people have adopted the T_J style of BBS posting?

    seriously you can't be serious.

McCain is certainly far more qualified than Obama, swing voters still have a bad taste in their mouth over Bush, thats the only reason Obama is ahead.

now, does that make McCain the better choice? thats up to ya'll. I'm not voting for any of these twits.

You guys want 'change'........you'll get it.

The best part of Palin is she lacks political experience

The best part of Obama is he is idealistic

The best part of McCain is his POW experience as I have heard it told

The best part of Biden is, nothing

Biden=Cheney same role, just step across the aisle

It's about her desire or lack their of to understand the issues. She doesn't understand and hasn't really cared to understand her whole life.

She sat out and did nothing for weeks other than being groomed by McCain's people. Then finally she comes out after all of this prep and she gives us the Charlie Gibson interview. We also get the Katie Couric interview? That's not being unduly harsh about her preparedness.

It's unduly harsh to give us someone as unprepared as Sarah Palin.

Obama worked hard, didn't have the connections that allow some to get in to ivy league, but still made it. Once inside he worked hard enough to be near the top of his class, President of the Harvard Law review, then showed he was motivated enough to turn down higher paying jobs to work in the community and help people. Since then, Obama has shown a continued aptitude and interest in understanding how government works. He's served in legislative bodies, met with leaders, dealt with the problems and issues involved in Federal government and international affairs.

Palin just recently got her passport for the first time. She hasn't really shown she has a grasp or interest in understanding how Federal government works.
