    They can't only on the fact that if they do this and no one is there to represent a certain division it would hurt that division.

    I think what they are doing is pretty good. I remember last year the 6th seed had home court vs. the 3rd seed, IMO there is something wrong with that. This year even if we get 5th seed that would be fine if we get home court in first round :).

    From what i can remember, Dirk was the 3 point champ last year, with Gilbert Arenas runner-up. Actually Steve Novak might stand a good chance to win, because he's been shooting shots since he was a kid. But when was the last time a rookie was invited to the three point contest? And how do they even determine who should come?

    is the East vs West thing a big deal in the states or something? I know it is with rappers... there'd sure be a more exciting and competitive finals series if it was just the top two teams, more game 7's... is the same type of system in place for MLB/NFL/NHL?

    I think one of the factors is a person's 3 point shooting % prior to the all star game (with a min amount of attempts of course). Not sure about the other factors.
