Agree, Novak is our Kapono. When he's on the floor it keeps defenses honest. No more sagging in on Yao or double teaming T-Mac.
Novak's D can't be worse then Head's - today when Head failed to chased down a rebound and led to a second 3-pt attempt late the 4th I could hardly contain myself - that was how we lost the game in Boston, and Memphis (I think). So if Novak shoots a better % than Head, I say play him instead Head.
Yes its true but you need to be able to run plays for him. He can come out screens any time and shoot the problem is the Pointguard have to call the play, and I don't think at this point they actually have a play for him, only if is draw out a time out by the coach. Now I think coach will design some plays, because he is soooooooo good of a shooter.
I agree that Novak has to be used in short bursts. They should run plays for him while he is on the floor and then pull him out when they need to strengthen the defense. Adelman has the skill to pick when Novak is useful at certain moments in the game.
As others have said... He can't get his own shot. If you're going to have him on the floor, run him off screens or have him throwing the entry pass into Yao. If Novak is on the floor and not shooting the ball, you are doing something wrong.
That won't happen in the longer run. The best 3 point shooter in the NBA with over 100 3 point attempts is James Jones at 50.4%. Novak cannot maintain that percentage if he plays more and makes more attempts - he would become the best 3 point shooter in the NBA if he did. What you are seeing is a small sample size because he doesn't play much, where his stats are skewed to look better than it really is.
Novak does not look like an NBA player when he is on the floor. Yeah, he can hit an open jumpshot, but his defense really is bad. He needs to put on some more weight and get more coordinated. He looks like Ryan Bowen without the hustle an size, which makes him just a skinny, slow white boy.
So, you think James Jones is a better pure shooter than Novak???? I don't. I'm aware of the small sample size. But when you're hot, you get the shots.........until you cool off. He ain't cooled off yet. We've just discovered he's hot. However, he does have a longstanding reputation as a great shooter. Don't see how you can say he cannot maintain a 50% average when you have no data to indicate otherwise just like I don't have enough data to indicate that he can. I'm only saying he's hot and it's worth investigating and seeing what could happen. I'd like to see some plays developed for him, I don't care if it is situational. If he can come in in 10 minutes and knock down 2 for 4 3 point bombs, that is a plus............depending on what we give up defensively with him in there.
If only Novak could do this stuff. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/463f9vIeO6E&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/463f9vIeO6E&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
