I don't think the idea is to out score them. I think the idea is to keep them from doubling down on Yao, so we can at least get our usual number of points lol.

JVG just wants to put Chuck in with the second unit and T-Mac on the court at the same time...he wants a second 'smaller' and quicker unit against the Suns.

Not that it will matter, we will get crushed in this game anyways if we are trying to 'outpunch' the Suns offensively. Bad strategy, IMO.

Agreed, JVG is out-coached the minute he put that starting lineup on the court. Novak who barely played any minute is called to start? What a joke. The kid looked lost out there. Yao's 2nd foul is on Novak. There is no way Hayes would allow that to happen.

A crushing loss is in the making.

at this point of game, we shoot 19 3-pointers, and missed 15 of them, with suns only shot 10 and have a 40% 3FP.

You know, I don't really think JVG is THAT concerned about winning tonight.

I think many fans here get too excited way too early. Once we saw V-Span play good at the Worlds and Novak nail 3s in the pre-season it seemed like almost everyone started thinking these guys were total studs.

Novak can shoot lights out, but that is it. He can't get open. He can't create his own shot or dribble. The only way he's gonna get shots is if he's standing in the corner and his man leaves him. He is way too big of a defensive liability right now to be in the game. Battier and Head could stand in the corner and hit threes without being a liability on d. Maybe they can't shoot as well as Novak can, but they don't cause a huge match up problem on the other end.

I used to think Novak could be like a Kyle Korver, but the difference between the two is that Korver is very good at getting open. They both suck on d though.

V-Span could become a good point guard but he just is way too out of control. That probably worked overseas, but that isn't gonna work for him in the league.

They both could turn into good players but it's gonna take a while. V-Span's got to learn to stay under control and Novak needs to work on his defense.

Its pretty obvious that he cant guard anybody on the court at all. His only contribution is 3 point shooting, and if hes not making those then hes absolutely useless and a liability on the court. People have too much faith in a 1 dimensoinal role player, who they think can fix our problems on offense.

I agree. If the Rockets thought he was gonna be an easy fix then I'm sure he wouldn't have been available in the second round. Luther's shooting 48% from behind the arc. He's our shooter. If Luther shot 36% I would take his 36% over Novak's 45% because Luther would make up for it on the other end.

    Exactly.

You're not going to beat Phoenix at their own game. We tried, and we got fried. We couldn't control the tempo and it killed us.

No way the Rockets can beat the Suns at their own game, especially if that means getting into a 3 pt. shootout. Next time we have to try a different strategy.

Hopefully next time T-Mac won't get popped in the chest the game before and hopefully we don't have to play the Suns on the back end of a back to back.

Amare played well and Phoenix got too many offensive boards late in the game when it was critical.

actually the next time we play them in phoenix is also the back end of a back to back. sucks but that's the nba.

i hope this game at leasts shuts up the novak cult for a while. i like him and expect him to develop into a solid player but the amount of people who think they knew more than van gundy about him, were getting out of control. had hayes started our come-back attempt might not have been so big, might not have even been down that much.

hopefully we learn from this game and play our own style when they come here.

A rookie hit the nail on the head. Novak needs to learn defence, and unless he exhibits enourmous amounts of defensive potential, I don't think he'll get any minutes other than Phoenix games and/or garbage time.

This thread went from everyone praising Gundy for playing Novak to a complete bashing of Gundy for playing him. Make up ur damn minds.
