    Exactly.

I think it was more like an experimental/fun thread. Just because there is a poll that says this should be the "official" board nickname, doesn't mean it will be. People will call him whatever they want. Frankly, whatever name wins may or may not last. Who knows, a Rockets announcer could surf the BBS and start using that nickname. It'll be fun, though to see this BBS's influence on all things Rockets and see if we can actually maybe come up with a claim to fame, such as assigning a player a true nickname.

Either way, what it comes down to is the fact that people voted on those two names, and they were the most popular. It's general human nature to defy the consensus and go against the norm, but come on guys, this is nothing but a little fun.

Well, I'm gonna complain, anyway! I don't like either one of the choices. Heck, at least if you're were going to use Novocain, spell it the right way. I get using the K, but adding the E at the end is lame, IMO. I'd rather use Swish Novak, or Brick... heck, at least that's confusing enough to be cool! I don't care if The Natural, my personal favorite, gets the nod, but surely we can top these, fellow members!

Brick Novak bombs away!!! Oh my god, Bill... did you see that?? His second shot from half court!!!!!

I'm not sure a forum is a place where you get to decide what people say in response to a thread that you post.

If a lot of people complain (which they have) then guess what...the names probably really do suck.

What do you mean. Novocaine is the more accepted spelling. Check out the googlefight: http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=novocain&word2=novocaine

    and wikipedia says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novocain

SuperNova is so much easier to pronounce/shout/yell than Novakain.

Well I'm not going to get too deep into the whole conversation or else it'll just sound like sour grapes since I made this thread in the first place. But I will respond with the fact that a whole lot more people have actually voted on the poll than have complained in this thread. And those two were the most popular choices in the other thread, so I don't see how these two choices suck any worse than all the others.

    That is all.

I don't really like either. Novakaine sounds a little forced like we couldn't come up with anything else so we grabbed the one that's similar to his name. Supernova is kind of corny.

I don't mean to argue over it or anything either, because really it's all trivial, but I think the board in general must just have bad taste in nicknames, because these are just...not good. I could very well be in the minority in that opinion, but there was such a looooong list of candidates and I'm just stunned that these 2 made the cut.

I voted for Novakaine in the other thread, but now that I think about it further I kind of agree.

Problem is coming up with something that sounds non-obvious, while also making sense for Novak.

I'm kind of warming up to Moneyball right now.
