So, would you take Novak over Scottie?

Other than being white, there is nothing in common between the two. While I certainly understand your point, Novak's stroke is classic, so I'll take the over on that bet. :)

We all know that he can spot up and shoot the rock, but what else can he do? If he can't really play defense and he can't rebound, he won't be on the court that much with talent that we have. He looked good last night but he was doing it against the Mavs scrubs. Im not knocking the guy, I just don't think he is ready for more then 10 mins a game.

ha ha, I just wanted to see if anybody remembered that. I barely do myself except for an unheralded guy bombing away in preseason like he was the second coming of Jerry West, I don't even know if he lasted long enough to call him a flash in the pan.

I think it depends on the matchups. If Kyle korver can start for the 76ers, why can't Novak play around 10-15 or more, depending on the team?

    He can and will.

Shooting in the most important thing you can do on the court......he can rebound and play D too, but is not proficient at it.....however all he has to be is average in those areas as his stroke is so sweet.

Ray Allen is not that good on defense either.....

He needs to develope his passing skills. As the season prolong, JVG will develop his defense. Oh and Ray Allen surely can't play "D".

Who'd win in a 3-point shooting contest: Novak or Redick?

I believe Novak has a higher shooting % in his college career than Reddick. He just wasn't the focus of the offense like Reddick was.

From that same list of players, there is video of Haryasz. He is number 64 on that list. Nothing like Novak, but I have seen worse athleticism at 6"11".

I agree with you. If he was 5-5 then he would be flawless

Even if Novak's strength isnt D or rebounding, one thing that he is showing is hustle and his range. The guy has a quick release and is consistent.

He might not have the skill set to get 18 minutes a night but might get them. When you stick a guy on the floor like that, you cant leave him open. That means it will be harder to double on yao, tmac, or bonzi...if thats the case you leave him open....and from what I have seen so far...Ill take that

I think we'll see a lot of set pieces for Novak out of time outs especially with the shot clock running low like the one last night. If nothing else, he'll be a huge decoy.

He might be a bust, so lets wait till the regular season. But i think he will be an important part of our team. Basically shooting 3's in clutch situations when Tmac is double (triple) teamed.

Not to me. Dirk's shot is ugly, he's more of a thrower than a shooter. Novak is schooled in the purist's style of fundamental shooting form. I don't think Dirk has EVER looked like that while shooting. Dirk is just a mutant who can make the ball go in the hole, things like 'form' don't mean much to him. He's kind of like some of these other guys who were great at putting the ball in the hole from long range, but who did not have much 'shooting form', like Magic, Clyde, even our own Air Bull (who was mostly set-shot instead of jump-shot)..

Whereas Novak looks to be more old-school, I mean seriously old school, Rolando Blackman, Tommy Heinsholn (sp?) old school..

as a matter of fact i did watch the game, albeit at poor streaming quality.
the thing i am trying to say is that when novak's shot was contested, it really wasn't close. there are at least two shot which hit the side of the rim and doesn't look close, not in and out. plus, he is horrible defensively and subpar rebounder against PFs. until he learns to adjust his slow shooting storke, he won't see much time in the rotation. When bonzi starts to gel with the team, there really wasn't enough minutes available for him anyways.

brandon roy looks great yesterday btw. Would you guys agree that it would be the best if we can land him (without giving up luther of course) than battier?
