Jamea vs. Wade is a great show! I really hope we can see them to play against each other in the playoffs.
Assuming JO is healthy the entire season (which is a big assumption), the Heat are a trade away from being a contender. They need an impact guy at PG (or maybe SF) to be within reaching distance of the Magic and Celts. Beasley ain't there yet.
I wouldn't say they're close to contender status (even with a trade) but agreed that they have serious potential to play spoiler and go deep in the East. Now, if they play it smart and accept that JO can't keep it together for an entire season and look to move his massive contract (identical to T-Mac's) in a blockbuster trade? Okay, then maybe. We'll see what happens....all I know is I would be actively shopping JO since it's almost time for his yearly significant injury.
If he's healthy, I think JO is exactly what the Heat need to be dangerous. But in addition, they must add a veteran wing-player that can do damage in clutch situations. The Heat are too easy for good defenses to lock down. IMO, if Wade had a worthy sidekick on offense, they would be more than just dangerous. In the playoffs, Wade rises to another level but, even with that, the Heat don't have enough around him now. Q is too old and slow even after losing weight and getting in shape for the first time in years. Beasley and Chalmers don't cut it. I'm not asking for a Pau giveaway, just something on the order Rasheed Wallace to the Pistons in 2004. The Heat are close enough that Riles could maybe pull a rabbit out of his hat before the trade deadline. It's unlikely, but definitely possible.
Understood. I just think JO has reached "Lamar Odom territory" in terms of what happens when you consistently rely upon him. Pre-Yao meltdown, I was very much for a T-Mac-for-JO swap because assuming we retained Artest and added Chase or whoever, that with a healthy Yao, our starting line up would have been good enough for us to be dangerous without JO even in the picture. Which means whenever JO has his head together and brings his A-game we would have been nearly unbeatable. That's exactly how the Lakers are with Odom. But yeah, maybe Riles can pull off some magic because you're on the money when you say Wade desperately needs a sidekick. If they can add that player and keep JO in a role where they don't need to constantly rely upon him, then I agree that I like their chances too. We'll have to see what happens....trade deadlines are always exciting. I can only imagine what this hyped up 2010 deadline is going to bring us.
The Lakers completely neutralized Nash. No adjustments from Alvin Gentry defensively either. Lakers just had a field day with them. Gentry isn't even bothering to put in Stoudamire or Nash since the beginning of the third quarter. Not sure the Suns are going to do any better in the playoffs this year than they have in the past with their play.
Suns have just blown layup after layup. Can't shoot from the outside due to the Laker's impressive 3 point D. Can't finish inside due to the Laker's size.
