If I were Mozgov, I'd have done the same thing. The outcome would be different though because Blake would have teabagged me after he dunked in my face.
Bingo. This was actually tame compared to the shiz they pulled in the 80s and 90s. If Blake played like he does now against the Bad Boys, I'm not sure how much of the season he can get through.
That's what I call a good NBA hard foul, no ill intentions either. Man got his payback while at it too, good for him.
Reminds me of this: Nothing easy  <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/EAcerISqI8s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
After watching it another 10 times, it looks like Griffin made it worse on himself. As he has in other Mozgov-style dunks, he uses his left hand on the defender to lift himself, or at least in this instance hang on. Secondly, he's going for the hard dunk absolutely no matter what. If he had settled for an awkward layin without hanging on the opponent, he could have gotten the and-1 and landed safely. On the other hand, if he didn't do those things, he wouldn't be the player he is. He's looking to jump full vertical and slam as hard as possible every time without exception. If gave up on a seemingly impossible dunk, he wouldn't have gotten some of his impossible dunks in the first place.
This is what I was thinking too. He might have gotten more point and thereby helped his team more by doing a little more finesse sometimes (not all the time). Jordan did a lot of spectacular dunks, but he also did more spectacular layups that resulted in and-1s.
I'm having a flashback to when Buster Douglas and Holyfield figured out that Tyson could be worn down if you grappled him. They discovered the road map to beat him, and thereafter his aura of invincibility was gone.
Mozgov, Pekovic, Pachulia... I want one of these hard-nosed, bullish bigs with that farm/ox-like strength to be a physical presence for our team. unlike j. hill and his league leading and-1s given up.
He did the right thing. Didn't try to hurt him but made sure he wasn't going to get his hands on or near the rim. I like Blake Griffin but these big men have to let him know they aren't going to just let him run around trying to monster mash on everyone. The way the other Clippers reacted though was pathetic....looked like a bunch of little boys running to help their mom up.
I can't believe people are hating on Blake for going hard to the rim on almost every play... You guys hate Jordan Hill for playing soft and not dunking the **** out of everyone, but when Blake does it he deserves to get laid out every single time?
Blake often tries to do more than just score with his dunks. He makes a "statement" to the other team with how ferocious he throws them down. There is an element of humiliation and that Griffin enjoys. Opposing players have every right to go hard right back at him because he's basically inviting them to try and stop him. I've never seen a player go to such an extent to turn so many shot into power dunks. You reap what you sow. They are matching his energy.
Exactly what I thinking. I probably laughed for a full minute immediately after he uttered "easy" out.....
