Clarence Weatherspoon was a force for his first five seasons. In his second season he averaged 18.2 ppg and 10.1 rebounds. Granted, it was all downhill after his fifth season, but still, I'd be thrilled to get that kind of production out of a #26 pick. I'd be thrilled with anything even close to that. On a Side note, he didn't seem mentally slow to me. He was a much better interview in those clips than most NBA players. Hell, he seems 10 times smarter than Mike James. Anyway, I enjoyed his personality in those clips. If the talent is there, I'd certainly enjoy his personality added to our team.
Not to be mean here but where did you get the impression that one of the Rockets' most critical needs is another 6-7 PF? They go out and get him and we now have a 6-6 & (maybe) a 6-8 PF to replace the 6-9 PF who wasn't up to the task. This makes them better? That plus the fact that putting this guy in with Bonzi would put every Krispy Kreme in Houston out of business.
considering weatherspoons age and limitations, he did more than other guys on the team that were younger, more athletic and more talented
I don't know anything about Big Baby or any other college player. What is it that this guy does well?
"Not the smartest tool in the shed" LMAO Glen has physicality and you worry about him being another Stromile Swift. He does remind me of Charles Barkley whom Bobby Knight cut from the Olympic team for being too fat. He then got into shape after joining the NBA and we all know the rest of the story....

I'd love to have Big Baby on the Rockets, BUT I'd prefer to get him with a second round pick. I'm not sure he's worth our 1st round pick...I think we can get more production out of trading our first round pick as its a low pick - if we had a trade with the first rounder for a servicable PF, picked up a second round pick via trade and still managed to land Big Baby in the second round...I'd be really happy about our off-season.
This has nothing to do with my opinion of him. If he is projected to go in the mid second round at best, you're a moron if you spend a late first round pick on him. NBAdraft.net has him 50th best prosepct right now. Draft Express has him at the top of the second round. At a minimum, if he is who you want, call up Seattle or Boston at picks 31,32 and trade down and pick up antoher 2nd rounder next year. Then you don't have him at a guaranteed contract. Unless he continues to blow up at workouts, I'd be dissapointed in picking him at 26 from a value perspective. This thread has given various viewpoints on his talent abilities...
I thought we wanted somebody athletic at the 4 maybe someone like sean williams but I dont know about big baby
I didn't say anything about his numbers. He was an athlete. There's a reason that Chuck was taken 5th overall in the best Draft ever and Big Baby is being projected in the second round. I'm not saying I don't like him, but let's not compare him to a top 3 power forward of all time just yet.
We need to be looking at the Paul Millsap/David Lee type late round gems, and there are a few guys with that kind of potential that should be around in the early/mid second round (simply because of the depth of this year’s draft). Kyrylo Fesenko is the stand out name to me… definitely worth a 2nd rounder and possibly a candidate for our 26th. Impressing a lot of people in his workouts. I would prefer Fazekas over Glen Davis... Davis is a burnout waiting to happen.
Glen "Baby Fat" davis will be available at our pick, and there's a reason for that: He had to work his ass off to get down to his current weight, and he will get heavier again. No one else wants him in the first round, he is a second round pick!!!His body type will not allow him to stay that fit, I promise you. The three guys we need to take a look at that will or might be around at 26 are Sean Williams, Kyrylo Fesenko, and and Dominic McGuire. If we could pick up that 34 pick from dallas we should go for PG Petteri Koponen. He had a good work out with the Rockets.
