Can someone give me irrefutable evidence that it is CO2 causing global warming? A link? Anything? I just don't see how you can test something on a global scale and say for certain that the cause is CO2, and not anything else.
There's no definitive proof that causation itself is a real phenomenon at all. There is, however, very strong evidence to suggest that humans are the primary cause of long-term global warming.
Nothing like an unsourced editorial by a Rupert Murdoch tabloid columnist to refute real science. This shows what the GW denialists are all about. They claim that they're all about science - then at the end of the day all they've got to rebut real science are a bunch of editorials by a right wing Murdoch hack to hang hteir hats on. Yeah, wow, the IPCC or Rush Limbaugh, Doctor of Pharmacology - who to believe? Like I said, they never will admit defeat, they will keep citing the same few outdated or distorted notions, and thus create a circular network of self-citation which perpetuates itself. It's to the point now though where it pretty much is counterproductive, IMO, and results in embarrassing spectacles (see above).
the best evidence i've seen thus far is that greenhouse gases are causing warming is that as predicted, the night time temperatures are increasing faster than the daytime temps which is constistent with the greenhouse effected of thermal radiation being reflected back at night.
Yet how do we know its long-term? A span of 40 years is pretty much insignificant to the age of the earth. The ice age lasted thousands of years.
I figured you'd attack the source, that's why I also included a link to the Goddard Space Flight Institute with their 2002 study showing increases in ice.
I'm a bit skeptical of that graph. How did they take the mean global temperatures back in the 1860's. I remember reading proper documentation of global temperatures were not taken until pretty recently.
Look it up yourself. This data is supported by the vast majority of climate scientists, so I'm content in deferring to their expertise.
I do think that man-made release of greenhouse gases is a source of warming. but not sure it's CO2 as much as other sources such as methane....I haven't seen a convincing case pinpointing which is causing what. but it's definitely the greenhouse gases...while these guys can't prove it, i looked it up and found the smoking gun which is the atmospheric heating could only be attributed to the greenhouse effect. the heating being recorded could not be a result of surface heating.
Ok. Thanks for the quick explanations. I by no means am saying that there is no global warming. I'm just a bit skeptical of some of these data on both sides especially when money and politics are involved.
Yeah , but how do you know, unequivocally, that this wouldn't have happened anyway... for the first time in 4.5 billion years?
Well most of the 'money' (by faaaaar) is on the denial side, so remember that when discounting arguments.
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised how much money is spent on the "environmental" side of things. These environmentalist groups are more focused on the issue and have pretty sizeable amount resources available to spend.
These are the same lame talking points that have been discredited time and time again. I'm not going to bother with a link - not necessary. You could probably take every single dollar made by every environmentalist ever in history, multiply it by 10, and you wouldn't come close to ExxonMobil's yearly revenue.
From the film: Here's something from 2007... Here's a couple of scientists form the National Snow and Ice Data Center talking about what that "increase" in Antarctic ice... http://www-nsidc.colorado.edu/news/press/20060706_goremoviefaq.html
Way to embarrass yourself. Read the links above. Oh and pansies is spelled with an s - like "shakesphere". You are terminally bad at spelling - how do you deal with those long indian names? Good thing you are just pretending.
ok - you pretty much buried me here! UNCLE!!! but just b/c this one guy is apparently discredited doesnt mean that all are. there are plenty of other fish in the proverbial sea.
again, i never said man isnt a cause of global warming. i questioned the degree to which man is causing it versus natural phenomenon.
