This exact battle was fought over CFC's and ozone depletion ~ the good guys won and CFC's were reduced. Same story with CO2 emissions/ global warming ~ good guys are winning -- green house gases will be reduced - new technologies invented - jobs created. The battle over global warming has become yet another defeat for the pollution advocates.
Tongue in cheek, I'm sure, but it is a direction we'll be lucky to take as this all plays out. I doubt things will evolve in that logical a fashion. D&D. Impeach Bush, Barbara, Jenna, the Dog, and the Pastry Chef.
LOL thanks for the bump - the best part of re-reading this thread is that @NewYorker made perfect sense back then, so much more than with his new screen name @Sweet Lou 4 2 . Those were actually reasonable takes, although the mob was ganging up on him. I guess he decided he would rather join the mob than defend the truth.
They were just arguments to probe ideas - nothing more. Sometimes genuine questions, sometimes to troll posters that annoyed me, sometimes my actual takes - all mixed in. My actual positions haven't changed. I don't think we should create mass poverty, do think we should go full nuclear, do think we need to invest more into green, and do think we need to stop denying the impacts of climate change and start finding practical solutions.
