I want the Rockets players to play well just as much as anyone else, but the truth is Boki's performance yesterday did not help him at all. Coming from the off season, a player in Boki's position should want to come into the preseason and NOT make the same mistakes, or a least show signs of going that direction. Can anyone on this board say that Boki showed any promise in that game? He had all freekin off season! (not counting he is in his third year)
Yeah, Gaines was here all summer after the trade working on his game. And it showed last night too. Boki just looked like another low IQ player...he didn't seem to have a mental game to go with his physical one. I am beginning to wonder if the people still standing up for Boki are the same ones standing up for Eddie Griffin.
Whoa, whoa! I'm frustrated with Bostjan too, but let's not do him the disservice of comparing him to Eddie Griffin! At least Boki shows up for flights and practices.
JVG seems to know exactly what he wants out of his players to fit his system and team chemistry. the fact that he signed both padgett and bowen this summer and hasn't yet picked up boki's 4th year option indicates to me that boki has not shown enough improvement in his skills/decision making this summer to be able to contribute consistently outside of garbage time. sadly enough, i think we stick a fork in boki.
Put Boki on Sacremento or Dallas and he would thrive...he is a slasher type. Manu Ginobli would struggle under JVG. DD
I was on the road last night and listened to the game on 610. Gene Peterson said, and I quote: "Boki just isn't playing very good... he's gonna have to play alot better if he wants to make the team this year." I tend to agree with Gene... I'm sure he will make the team (for depth purposes), but I can't envision him getting any PT if he doesn't do well this preseason.
Nachbar is a slasher not a shooter. If they need him to stand outside and shoot, then they need to trade him for a second rounder if they can and give his time to someone else. If they need him to get to the basket to score, then he needs to see that that is his game and play within his boundaries.
Did anyone notice that he was taken out of the game cuz he got hurt? the trainers were with him late in the third quarter when it looked like he hurt is ankle.
No. In the regular season it'll be, Can we wait until January when the team has stabilized a bit? He's got something like 8 preseason games to determine if he's worth an extension. With a failing grade on game 1, he's already lost 12%.
Yeah, yeah, Boki had a bad game last night. Rockets organization does admit that he is a great shooter though. I know that he is a slash type player, but maybe he should just spot up at the 3-pt line and bomb away. Do what Piat used to do last year. With Yao in the paint and T-Mac doing the slashing (and everything else he does) Boki should have plenty of open looks at the rim. He won't need to slash to the rim, all he'll need to do is make the open shot!
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/bostjan_nachbar/?nav=page For his career, 35% shooting...not only isnt he a great shooter, hes not a good shooter either...hes a piss poor player for NBA standards
Okay, that's it. You better not go into any dark alleys anytime soon. Because they're smelly and dark and you'll get your shoes wet because on TV and Movies the dark alleys are aways wet for some reason. And not the clean fresh kind of wet, but the wet that kind of spills out of your garbage. And you'll be sorry when you're walking around in that. Also, chances are that you WILL see a cockroach, the big ones that fly and squish when you step on them. How do you like them apples.
another thing that everyone forgets..... boki was drafted to run in Rudy's offense, which was more a fast break/ slashing .....and JVG is different, and he's never played a scheme like this before, especially in Europe, so give him time to adjust.... Yao got on the job training....but boki, riding the bench doesn't really help him.... I believe in basketball, practice can never replaced game time situations.... b/c i think after awhile in practice u get to know your teammates and u can predict what they do and stuff.... so u know.... i think JVG just needs to giving him playing time and it'll payoff as the season goes.... i thought the same way about griffin.... but ya'll know what happened w/ him, but i'm still a fan of his... and still will support him...
