wth.... look a the box score.... he was productive for the amount of time he played, maybe he didn't score much but he pulled down a few boards and got an assist....and he made that one bad pass.... alittle harsh, esp since it was the first game....

Boki is not worthless but he's definitely only a role player and a lowly one at that. All he brings is effort. We've given this guy enough changes and he never brings it to the table. He gets an 'A' for effort but that's it.

The other 15th overall pick looked much better than him tonight.

I think Gaines has a shot at making the rotation. Even though it was against third and fourth stringers, his ballhandling and passing looked solid.

If Boki had an outside shot, there would be no doubts he would be getting a ton of time since he would be groomed to be the eventual starter alongside TMac and Yao. Boki's outside shot is what prevents JVG from going to him for so long. I saw one time tonight that Boki passed up a wide open 3 point attempt since the defender sagged off him bigtime. Boki passed it to Lue. Lue was defended more closely, but he canned the 3 pointer.

Padgett is very similar to Boki except Padgett has demonstrated he can shoot a jumper except for tonight when he bricked it. Padgett is still pulling a check in the NBA because he can knock down a jumper. If Boki cannot shoot an outside jumper, his other skills must be able to compensate. Even Trent Hassell who is a fierce defender developed an outside jumper to prevent defenses from totally leaving him to double.

Eddie Johnson was pulling NBA checks till he was in his late 30s because he could shoot jumpers. Stacey Augmon is the rare exception.

This is the last year for Nachbar. It's his make-or-break season. Any extensions or options will be decided this year. It's up to him.

ragingFire, why did you think that I implied that Boki was a "star?" Didn't you see my post replying to rmartine?

We all know that Boki is not a "star." But rmartine was thinking that we were saying that.

i agree with rmartine. boki notbar is useless. every time boki gets minutes and gets the ball, he never takes advantage. everyone says he has a nice jumpshot in practice, but i have yet to see it in games. boki is too inconsistent. the rockets should have given this guy up in the expansion draft.

You're lucky sucka. :My boys hold me back.... for now:

And don't even think to respond to this reply with a roll-eye smilie, because I will NOT be responsible for my actions if that happens.

A lot of posters are getting 'over excited' (although I am too). Any one of us who saw the game knows that this poster is right. Boki has stage fright. :D

(Boki's last 3 NBA games with significant playing time) Meaningless Preseason game #1 vs. Very Significant Playoff Game #3 & Game #4. Yeah, you are right...

Boki has the same problem Steve Francis had. His skills do not match playing with a dominant center. He’s a slasher. I don’t care how many jump shots he hits in a row in practice, he obviously doesn’t do well in game spotting up and shooting. Has he ever had a good shooting game? Did he show any progression last season? No and no.

Nacbar will only make it in the League if he learns to shoot in actual games. Can anyone say if he can shoot in practice?

Perhaps we can keep him as Yao's friend. I think that has been done before with a superstar. He is ok as a last player on the bench type, and there is still the possiblity, however remote, of improvement.
