It would be better if there wasn't a republican President vetoing or threatening to veto valuable legislation.
Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch! Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead. Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed. Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go, Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out. Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low. Let them know The Wicked Witch is dead! As Mayor of the Munchkin City, In the County of the Land of Oz, I welcome you most regally. But we've got to verify it legally, to see To see? If he If he? Is morally, ethically Spiritually, physically Positively, absolutely Undeniably and reliably Dead As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined him. And he's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead. Then this is a day of Independence For all the Munchkins and their descendants If any. Yes, let the joyous news be spread The wicked Old Witch at last is dead!
He stopped federal funding of stem cell research. He did not increase the amount given to States for their child insurance plans. He allowed waterboarding by the CIA continue. And of course this veto to actually save money: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/11/20071113-6.html But then supported their 1st Stimulus package, TARP, & auto bailouts. He has basically done what Obama has asked since Obama won election and hasn't done much of anything against Pelosi or Reid in months.
I wonder how long it will take for Obama to replace the Secret Service with Nation of Islam security?
I've got two DVRs recording 4 different channels, so we can savor this for a long time. A long time comin' on so many levels. I'm just floating, fellow denizens of D&D. Floating in ecstasy. I've been waiting so long for a Democratic President. It seems like forever. We, the people of this country, finally pulling ourselves out of the Black Void. Long may it last. We're going to a party later and will see this marvelous moment all over again. I'm going with champagne tonight. Good champagne!
I'm watching it from a neighborhood cafe where they've set up a flat screen TV. The place is packed with people from my neighborhood. A movie theater not too far from me is showing it on their screen and I've heard that that place is packed too. I've never seen this sort of excitement over any event.
Some people are acting like their lives are magically going to change today. I don't get it. I get the sense of pride for a minority, but other than that, just don't get it.
Well people feel like we've had rough 8 years. We've been lied to, our nation's image has been tarnished, and as a nation that once stood up against torture we've become a nation that had leadership which allowed and instituted torture. Obama promises change from all of that. That excites people. The fact that our nation in some ways has progressed enough to elect someone who is a minority is of course a historical moment. Their lives will change but it isn't by magic, it is by hard work, new leadership, and the tone he has set, and continues to set.
I'm guessing you and the minions will be doing a lot of that; like you can shift the nation's downward spiraling inertia overnight. At least you can be happy that the face of your nation can actually put together proper English sentences and pronounce multi-syllabic words.
Nobody likes the idea of torture, but if it saves innocent lives, is it not a good thing? I think it's difficult to treat terrorists as everyday citizens with the same rights. Who knows how many attacks might have been stopped by some of the information.
Dick Cheney pulled a muscle moving today. I'm wondering if someone is going to have to carry him down the Capitol steps.
I will put the blame on him for decisions I consider to be poor. Why wouldn't I? I'm not going to do it to get back at everyone for blaming Bush. I'm going to do it because I think he is wrong from an economical standpoint. We'll see how it goes. I sadly have no minions.
