This is Harden's stat for the previous 10 games (per ESPN) : 31.2 PPG (45% FG) 6.1 REB 7.0 AST 0.9 BLK 2.2 STL His offense has definitely picked up and his defense also has drastically improved compared to the start of the season. Saying Harden is the main reason we are losing at this point is just plain silly. Run more PnR with Dwight? How do you expect him to do that when Dwight can't even catch the ball properly? How many time it results in turnovers whenever we lob passes to Dwight? Dwight is no more athletic nor better at finishing at the rim than Capela is and we are paying him 22 mil a year? for a guy who essentially is a glorified role player? I'm not saying Dwight is the problem, but as I said before, he is not the solution either, and if you are getting paid 22 mil a year, you better be the solution. I'm really fed up with all these excuses DOFs are coming up with. He is just not that good anymore. Accept the reality and stop blaming other players for his incompetency.
I don't know what happened between the two, all I do know is they need to put aside their differences for the betterment of the team. They let everyone know that they were the leaders of this team. Harden has tried to lob to Dwight. Dwight can't jump. He can't catch passes, he's stiff. He gets tired quickly. He can't block like he used to and his defense has taken a hit. Harden is doing it by himself and people are trying to blame everything on him, typical. How bout blame the others who don't contribute anything at all. No scoring, no defense, low BBIQ, low effort. We are not deep, we have James Harden and scrubs. We are the New York Knicks ladies and gentleman and Dwight Howard is the new Amare Stoudamire.

Of course, Harden has a lot to do with the current struggle rockets are facing, but there are plenty of criticisms for that. On the other hand, how many threads do you see blaming Dwight? At most 1 or 2. What happened? I thought he was supposed to be a "superstar" and one of the main pillars of this team? Why does he get treated like a helpless role player whenever going gets tough? Oh, Dwight doesn't get enough touches, Harden is ignoring Dwight, blah blah blah. Watch the damn game man. Whenever the ball goes inside to Dwight I instantly cringe, because it automatically results in 1.offensive fouls or 2. turnovers. It's just not Harden seeing this. Pretty much all of the teammates have lost faith in Dwight's offensive game. That is why he is not getting as many possessions as he used to. If you don't agree, then yeah you should be classified as DOF, because you are selfishly defending a player's reputation at the cost of the entire team's success.

This. Even on defense, Capela is actually doing better job than Dwight. If you look at DRPM (Defensive Real Plus-Minus) : Capela is 2.66 which ranks him 11th among all the centers in the league. Dwight is 24th. That's like barely above average. So, let me get this straight. We are paying 22mil to a player who has zero offensive game, just above average defensive skill, can't play b2b games due to back injuries (although that might change soon), but it's mainly Harden's fault that the rockets losing because Harden is averaging 31 PPG with 45% shooting in the past 10 games? Yeah, sure.
Dwight is not getting a pass from anybody either. And he doesn't have people on here protesting for him or being his internet body guard either.
I have seen plenty of threads blaming Dwight and asking to trade him. (delusionally thinking we can get Cousins back). I also have seen posts blaming Dwight in almost every single game thread. Did you ever consider that the result of turnovers or fouls MAY be also connected to the timing of the pass inside? THe bad timing of the pnr when the ballhandler throws the ball in when it's too late? Not to say that's the case always but a lot of times it is. I couldn't care less of Dwights OR Harden's reputation.
I really wish people would stop trying to use meaningless and pointless stats to validate some mute point. Capela is not playing at the high level of Dwight. He does not pose the same threat at the rim as Dwight. And yes it's meaningless because we're losing period.
DRPM IS worthless AND misleading with such a small game sample. It has very bad defensive players shown as elite defenders atm. People should stop quoting it as any kind of proof. Otherwise I should ask questions about what they think of some other gems it says. At this moment. Wait for at least 30 games to even start looking at RPM ARPM ORPM AND DRPM.
If you don't like fancy advanced stats, then watch the damn game for yourself. There is no denying that the rockets are playing better on both ends of the floor when Capela is on the floor instead of Dwight. Many people say we gotta cut Dwight some slack because at least he is contributing to our defense, but that's BS. He goes for too many blocks and loses his man way too often. He is not a defensive threat as he used to be. When is the last time Dwight really locked someone down? I can't remember a single time this season. LOL I do like "fancy" advanced stats very very much. And you know what a person who likes advanced stats knows? That the no.1 rule of reading such advanced stats is puting them into the right context and knowing when they can become reliable or not. DRPM even though it has pretty big flaws it's an ok measure but NOT with only such a small number and you will have the people who calculate the formula themselves come out and tell it to you too. ONE good advanced stat that is good to start looking at from already less than 25% of the season in is rim protection stats and it shows that Dwight is still a pretty good defensive center. If you think he's just average you dont' know how to look at a game. How do you expect a center to play lock down defence when you have 4 other holes in the court? The penetration straight to the rim is extremely high and it puts an extreme burden into the Rockets' C. But Dwight always has good defensive position and continues as he can to deter players from attacking. (something Capella is very bad at- may or may not improve as he gets more bulk and experience). Instead of trying to tell me to watch the game go read up on advanced stats yourself and then download games and isolate each players mistakes in defence as I do.
