Well, he's been dominating this week at least. Again, if you make Yao the focal point of the offense, he will put up the PPG. Having said that, I expect Yao's PPG to decline when TMac and Artest are back in the lineup. I have a feeling everybody will say Yao has regressed again when TMac and Artest are back, but in reality, he is a comparable player to what he was 2 seasons ago.
His offensive game is pretty much the same.... minus some agility. The fact is that this is still the part of his career where he should be ADDING to his game. Perhaps perfect the drop-step. Maybe work on his mid-range jumper (like Hakeem did). Maybe he can learn how to sell the foul. I posted this in another thread... but Yao, while he has regressed some this year... is blessed by the fact that his game is in no way based on speed and athleticism (which is the first thing you will lose as you get older... see Amare Stoudamire, Dwight Howard, and Shaq). His game should age very well, as long as he stays healthy and the NBA cleans up the current wrestling matches down low (which I believe they will eventually... esp if this kind of brutality is featured in a conference final or championship game). He can get that jump hook and turnaround forever... thanks to his height.
he has peaked definitely assuming that he does get some level of agility... the rockets offense does a good job of re-posting him, however, since he is most effective one on one he doesn't set up team mates for being open like "Dream" used too.. This creates a dilemna b/c yao doesn't get others open so it's either live or die by yao, but then tracy is a good player/scorer and he is always hurt
