They could always give it to him on the high post when he is facing his defender. He can hit that 10-15 foot shot pretty well

You are WRONG. Yao can't hit those jumper. He is under average shooter, something like 35%?

His mid-range shot is overrated. I think we all think he shoots a higher percentage because he shoots it clean and it swishes beautifully, but realistically, Yao in the high post is about as useful as a VCR right now.

He's a below average shooter at the 15-20 foot range. He can't handle the rock that high. His passing at that position is decent, but nothing great.

From that range, he is 2-9 this season and was 10-33 last season - this doesn't tell me that this is a good shot for him.

C'mon now, Yao's production has gone down since the high post stuff. I'm glad he has rarely taken those long mid range jumpers. Once every now and then is ok. He needs to be parked in the low post. Lessen the amount of picks he has to set.

He can't hit a 10 foot jump shot but he can make 86% of his free throws? The dude has a high post game he just doesn't show it much. Where do y'all get your stats from anyways? 35% and 2-9?

15 feet is the free throw line right?
He makes around .400~ which isn't bad.

Yea 15 feet is the free throw line
So according to that he's shooting around 42% from around 10-15 feet.

I don't really like Yao outside the paint too often. I rather he try to go for offense rebounds. If we wanted a center that can shoot outside might as well trade for Memet Okur or Barginani. I think he takes enough shots outside and maybe even a bit too much.

2 words...for you as to why yao is less effective basketball stat wise....TOM TIBADEAU

no one coaches yao like TT did. Since he left Houston or was dismissed yao has not improved as a bb player

    2 more words...VAN GUNDY

VG's system was focused on yao as centerpiece. adelman's is not...or at least is not on a nightly basis. sometimes he gets the ball sometimes he doesn't...no consistency in how the pgaurds are instructed or ability of pg to get balll to yao

if pg did not get ball to yao back in the van gundy era...he sat and watched others do it

That still didn't answer my question. By the way your stats were wrong. Look up a few posts...

Actually Shaun your stats are the ones that are wrong. The high post is the zone above than the one you are talking about.

The zone you are talking about is just inside the free throw line to about 3 feet out...that's not the high post. From the high post area, which is outside the key, he's shooting an amazing 2/8. Wow.

Im talking about 10-15 feet, which is clearly in the gray area.

The reason Yao cant hit that shot more is because he never works at it in the summer. The summers are when you develop new moves or shots. Yao is too busy doing whatever to actually get better. Thats why he hasnt gotten strong enough in his arms and upper body nor acquired a 15 ft shot.. Look at amare and landry. It took landry 1 summer to be the best mid range shooter on the rox. People on this board thought amare was done because he needed knee surgery. the only thing that did was show him what he needs to expand his game with. His mid range shot and ft's are money. Yao could really open this offense if he studied the game offensively to understand the passing lanes to cutters and to consistently hit that ft line/elbow jumper. Since its summer ball all summer, he doesnt, therefore he's the same guy as 4 yrs ago if not worse.

Thats true TT was always on Yao. I remember a story where TMac said Yao went to the bathroom when TT and Yao were working out and TT went in after him and told him "Yao, lets go, we got to work on this and that".

Do you want him to post Yao's last rehab schedules or when he was not injured his national team basketball schedules?

Ofcourse he has not had time to work on new things.
