The real trap is falling in the the Van Gundy the great coach hype and ignoring the fact he's backbiting his star players(Francis last year and Yao this year.) just because you are a fan of the team. I'm a Rocket's Fan not a Van Gundy fan, he can take his ass back to TVany day now.....
Where did your rationale, calmness, voice of reasoning go? Did you have bad breakfast this morning. If we start making shots, everything will be fine.
Van Gundy acts like an ass virtually every timeout.... I love TMac. The Tmac we used to see in Orlando. It's hard to recognize that TMac in Van Bumbling's system.
The only "hole" that is different from last year is losing Cato's 10 rebounds per game. That's a big deal and it needs to be resolved. But, for some reason, I think the Rox can ultimately find a better answer than Cato. It just wasnt' there in the offseason (too many fat ugly contracts being handed out).
Losing Mobley hurt too. We didn't need Lue or Howard and Reece Gaines sux.
Yep, we all want Bush to be outsourced to Iraq. Now only if JVG can be outsourced to Utah in exchange of Jerry Sloan.
Anyone remember JVG saying that Houston people didn't know basketball? I remember him saying in the Chronicle that us Houstonians were happy with losing or something like that. I tried to look for the piece in the Chron Archives but it takes too long.
I have NEVER liked JVG - not from day 1. I still think the team will be fine. They have to get better and I tthink they will, but JVG annoys the hell out of me.
He didn't say that exactly. He just said that he wished the fans would boo sometimes when the team wasn't playing well and that we were too nice and polite. He never said we didn't know basketball.
I was working and didn't get a chance to hear his comments but that sure sounds positive. However, I feel all that constant waving his arms to get the guards to bring the ball up quicker is just to get the ball over halfcourt to avoid the 8 second count so that he has more time to run 5 to 7 screens, in other words, so he will have time to run an intricate offensive play. I don't think Van Gundy is pushing them to get the ball up quickly to see if a break develops and take the ball to the basket. It is bring the ball up quickly, and then set up in half court, which only serves to wear players out and cause them to waste energy. If you are gonna bust it up the floor, take it in and see if we can get a layup. If it doesn't happen, then dribble back out, or throw it out to the spot up players and set up your half court set. And I do agree that rebounding is a major problem on this team. But that has been going on now ever since Van Gundy took over, even when we had Cato. The question is..........what has he done about it? He kept Mot in the lineup after his horrendous game against Utah. Yeah, he gave Padgett a few more minutes. Big Deal. You wanna rebound? Work on it in practice and let Spoon play more minutes, and sit MoT. Spoon is the best rebounder we have on this team. Mo is the worst. Padgett and Howard are somewhere in between with Padgett being willing to scrap and actually outproduce MoT. We have to face facts after awhile. Mo has been in this league how long? And Van Gundy actually thinks that he can become a rebounder? It ain't gonna happen. Mo's game is what it is, very fun to watch in a one on one matchup, but terrible in every other department and too costly to have him on the floor, not to mention starting. I actually am not in favor of firing Van Gundy yet. But, I feel this team is starting to spiral down the drain and if it does indeed go down the drain at some point, then Van Gundy should be assessed. We have 2 of the top 6 or 7 players in the game on this team, at least they were before this season started. And I do not think that Van Gundy has any intention of playing uptempo, opportunistic fast break basketball. I think that is all talk, and he wants a grind it out, halfcourt offense team and he is trying to change players into that style that will never be able to give him that.
I think stevie would have been a better fit last season if he could have shot ft and 3 pointers a better last season. T mac takes way to many jump shots instead of driven to the hoop instead.so i think he is hurting his own game.its alot of faults that I see in t mac that I don't like.he has a kobe type lookin shoot ,but its not getting kobe type results when it hits the hoop (usually bricks).not hating om t mac just pointing out the bad side .he needs to drive to the hoop hes taking way to many jump shots.
