Magic had a hard time "escaping into basketball " when he got AIDS. Stick that up your needle cocktail, KFC pitchman.

People are just being dic#$ about this.

    $#@! them.

    I support Tracy 10000%.

$%@! all you haterz. Burn in hell for all eternity.

Seriously, our resident psychology experts need to clam up for a minute. I guarantee this situation probably is more complex than what you clowns make it out to be.

Everyone needs to take a step back and stop hurling insults and names at T-Mac for all of this. The last thing anyone needs is a bunch of people telling him to "suck it up" when NONE OF US know all of the facts.

As for him, speaking to the media about this. Perhaps you may be right that he probably shouldn't be talking to the media but I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt and wait till all of the facts surrounding this come out. Just remember, all people are different and all people deal with stuff like this differently. What works for Kobe doesn't work for T-Mac. Its just that simple. Obviously, we all wish it was the same for T-Mac and that basketball would be an "escape," but it's not so stop complaining.

I think what's most disheartening is the fact that people are ragging and complaining about T-Mac and in many of those posts I don't see one line about how they wish that T-Mac gets better or solves the issues he has right now. There's a reason why every psychologist in America thinks Dr. Phil is a complete joke and all of you are proving why his school of "psychology", if you can call it that, is a waste of time.

Take a break everyone and let him try to figure this out without having a bunch of amateur psychologists spew out the magic answer to his problems 24/7.

I like to believe I can separate my job from my personal life. But when your personal life is truly troubled, it can bleed into EVERY other aspect of your being very easily.

Ultimely, there is much more to life than basketball. There is much more to life than our jobs. There are more important things. There are higher purposes to live for. Otherwise, we live a life of merely pleasure and pain. We chase pleasure, and we run from pain.

Tracy McGrady is a person first and an athlete second. If he's having tough times, we should support him and his ability to get better, whatever the "ailment" may be.

I'll make a prediction here: Tracy's problem will eventually be revealed for all to see. When he publicly stated there was a significant personal issue affecting his play, he guaranteed that no stone would go unturned in trying to find out what it is. The fact he's mentioned it several times and that he was wanting time off for it takes the issue to another level. Everybody needs to chill for a bit before rushing to judge or defend him.

Questioning Tracy's work ethic is incredibly stupid. It was hard work and offseason dedication that made him into the player he is instead of being like Darius Miles. How many players in the NBA today have improved more when compared to their rookie seasons than Tracy? Dumb dumb dumb.

When we find out what the story is, then we can opine on his mental toughness. At the present time, this is an open question.

Best response yet. This appears to be above and beyond basketball. I also am tempted to call out some of these guys bashing about personal problems being made public when half the people on here are in the BBS Forum talking about their damn dogs dying, parents dying, gf's leaving them, feminine itch, etc. as if even half the bbs even cares. Oh wait... here's a "+" for your dead ones - I'm sure that really will help you.

When it comes to personal issues, if you don't know, then just shut up and back off. Is TMac faking this? Is he serious? Is the situation so serious it should affect his play? None of us know.

In certain situations I know I'll be able to, but sorry - work is a distant second to "me". Work pays the bills - that's the only reason I'm there. If a family member of mine, like my parents, passed away - work would be the absolute last thing on my mind. If someone told me to "get to work" after a family tragedy or something similar, I'd tell them to "go to hell". Period.

"I am disgusted and mad and angry and all of that stuff, but at the same time I'm not going to hang my head. I'm 25 years old, I've got a lot of years in this game and I will be back. All of this stuff I'm going through, it's only going to make me tougher. I will never fold. Regardless of being bounced out of the first round, I will be back, my team will be back, and we will back better and stronger."

    -- Tracy McGrady

You all remember that quote from the playoffs last year. This season's already lost anyway. When T-Mac gets over this, and he will, it's on. Be ready to sit back and enjoy the ride.

lol, nice try johnny semantics. 22 and 31 and 5 games out of the 8th seed coming off a 40 point blow out loss does not equate to winning.

regardless, lets all hope and pray that this all star break helps tracy feel a better about whatever is bothing him.

When was the first we heard of Tracy's crisis? December? January? No, it was last week. Right as we were starting to play well.

Again I say, if the teams lousy play is the reason for Tracy's crisis, why would he make it up right as the team was starting to play well instead of during one of the many losing streaks this season?

But whatever. No one here knows what he's going through, so what's the point in speculating?

Wow, so TMAC apparently went to Charles Barkley for help. Hmm, who knew Barkley was full of solid advice?

    Ancient Chinese secret I guess.

Funny thing is Barkley changed his tone after that conversation with T-Mac...I am going to guess that McGrady confided in him and Barkley felt like an arse. It was weird how different he sounded in his comment about that whole thing going on with McGrady from the first time he called his issues a "cop-out".

No one is doubting that Tmac has issues, and that they are bothering him.

I just wish he would take time off, if he needs it, and get his head right.

No need to tell the press, it makes it sound like an excuse, and TMac has a history of making excuses.

It's not his fault that some guy asked him a question, he answered it, and then the media kept rehashing it over and over again; not his fault.

He's not going to take time off, he's going to play, although it's going to be nearly impossible to make the playoffs at this point of the season...next season hopefully our health will hold up for a change.

As long as some of the "fans" on this board don't know he's taking time off to clear up his life, then he might not have 30 trillion "T-Mac sucks" threads. :p .

man its like what barkley said tonight that he and tmac talked and the majority of fans dont give a sh*t about him as a person (or any athlete for that matter) all most people expect is tons of points and to win every single game, people just need to understand that it happens to all of us we just get down and have personel problems and it affects our work
