I think some of you have drank the Sengun koolaid a little too soon. He’s good. He could be really good. But we have also seen several games lately where he is getting completely taken out of games. Some of this is on him getting inside his own head. Some of it is players learning Sengun can’t jump and isn’t explosive flat footed, so just stay straight up and don’t fall for every pump fake and pass. the way some of you break down as if Silas spends his every moment scheming to harm Sengun is… quite frankly, pathetic.
I have not read any post that defends Sengun's defensive deficiencies. The issue is that he is being singled out despite the fact that the other players are equally inept defensively and some do not even show enough effort on that end. In addition, the coach is so incompetent that he and his staff fail to draw up defensive schemes that take into account the players' strengths and weaknesses. Besides, who among the competent coaches ever single out and diss their players to the media consistently? Only Silas and that is the main issue here.
A decent coach does not consistently diss his own player before the media. It is also no coincidence that the painted area where Sengun is most effective has been clogged since EG, the team's best three-point shooter was traded. If I saw last night's game correctly, Sengun was able to dunk several misses. So much for he cannot jump.
I can tell no one here even watched the video. You fanboys just see what you want to see Sengun got destroyed. And not just by Dame but also that scrub Eubanks. The last play before he got benched was Sengun giving up a wide open 3
Paging Steve… Don’t go quiet Steve. Keep that same call-out and benching energy Steve. Bang the table Steve!
I did not say he can’t jump. I said he can’t jump flat footed, or rather he’s not explosive flat footed. And when he does, he’s not clearing anyone. He is, however, more explosive off the bounce.
What’s his TS%? He’s shooting over 40% from 3 (albeit low volume) and 80% from the line over that stretch so guessing TS is still not bad. He’s had a few rough games. GS was the worst he’s probably been since he’s been here. I’m not saying he’s infallible or a 100% sure thing to be a really good player. However Silas doesn’t put players, including Sengun, in a position to succeed and it’s completely ridiculous that despite being our best player this season and really young Sengun is held to a different standard than any other player outside of maybe Josh Christopher and TyTy.
I really was hoping that ATL jumping the coaching search line would motivate us. Im going to quit watching next year if Silas is still coaching.
