I'd limit Yao to 25 min per game, and have him skip either the first or the second game of every back to back. The only way I'd want Yao to play both games is if we were on the verge of missing the playoffs.

I would be fine as long as one of the opponents are a sub-500 team. If not, like everyone else has voiced, reduced minutes. Just put him in important situations.

No. If he cant make it the whole season with less minutes he isnt worth having like Tmac anyways. Lets get this Tmac and bullcrap Yao stuff over with already and see if one of them can play every game. If they cant ship them out of here.

It depends on the context of the weeks schedules. If it's one of those brutal 8 games in 10 days then he'll probably do better to sit significantly more minutes or even games than a stretch where it was 2x back to backs over a period of a week with a long break.

How does the rockets b2b's compare with the other teams? Last year I saw that they had less than the lakers but had a few more hard/hard pairings based on win%

Winnable means winnable without Yao. Not winnable would mean not winnable without Yao. Meaning winnable with Yao.

my problem with resting yao against weaker teams is that those games are essentially must win games.

if we lose one of those games by 1 basket, we'll be upset that he was scheduled to rest.

In a trade for Jello we must comply with (as far as we are willing) with the requests of Denver:-

    Denver is interested in
    (A)Expiring Contracts
    We present Battier & Jefferies
    (B) Picks
We present Two from NY and a first of our own)
    (C) Young developing Talent
We present- Taylor, Hill and Patterson

If pressed we have have Budinger.
If they go further and request Martin or A.Brooks as part of the trade we should decline! :p

Yao should play often, especially when he is broken back into playing shape.
Just continue to monitor his playing time. If we are in a good position in the second half of the season, then in 'easy' games Yao could and should be rested .:p

We Won't Need Yao For More Then 60 Games To Make The Playoffs, So We Should Rest Him As Frequently As We Can.

& If We Can Get Melo Without Giving Up AB Or KM, I'm All For It. Otherwise, I'd Pass. Melo Is Not As Good As His Numbers Say.

I think Yao should miss a game on back to backs. Obviously he should miss the one's that are winnable without him, but the back to backs that are against contenders (Oklahoma, Dallas for example) should depend on whether we're playing at home or not. If certain back to backs alternate between away and home game, Yao should miss the away game and play the home game.

He gets to rest against a squad who will probably play harder at home and gets to play at home where his fans pay to see him. Again this should only apply if the back to backs are against contending teams and there is an alternating home-away setup.

I agree. Why is it ok for Yao to skip games when everyone was pissed when tmac skipped back to back games. If Yao can't play back to back games for at least 10 minutes each then he should sit out and concentrate on rehab.

Yao as a player won't sit out any games. He will be forced to reduce his minutes and games.

It's funny cause we always end up losing alot of these "WINNABLE" games.

Yao should go to HealthyFeet.com and get a set of shoe inserts; they are amazing. They are like filled with little jell pellets. Then he can play every night.

I was joking in my post, but this essentially what I was getting at. If he skips 'winnable' games in a back-to-back, we will end up losing some we could have won with him in. Those games against cellar-dwellers are worth just as much as the ones against the contenders -- and there are more of them and they are easier to secure. When you lose those, you really have to kick yourself. But, maybe if players know Yao will be out those games, they'll be more pumped up, knowing they have to contribute more.

Well said, however, my hope is that they will limit his minutes per game and decide between Yao, coaching staff and medical staff at game time whether he should play or sit that one out.

We need Yao for the playoffs, bar none, so just like baseball teams that limit the innings pitched by their star pitchers, Yao's time should be split 50-50 with Miller and other backup centers.

We'll see as the season wears on and as we get closer to the end of the regular season whether Yao will see his minutes and/or games further reduced in order to save him for the playoffs.

Of course, all of this will be a moot point if we don't make the playoffs, but my gut feeling is that with this team (knocking on wood) staying healthy for the season, we should be square in the middle of the pack come playoffs.

on the other 7 games why doesn't he play the first night of the back to back, or if the team is harder on the second, play the second. do we play any difficult teams twice in a row?

    Doctors are a broken record.

Team physician: "Results don't show anything wrong. It depends on Yao."
    ::thumbs up from Yao::
Yao plays through the pain until he breaks down.
