no thank you beginning of the season i wanted to do scola+whatever for bynum seem like lot of people are against it
I'm going to go with an even crazier idea........why not both Gasol brothers??? Trade for Pau and sign Marc to the max if need be and then you have a front line of: Pau and Marc Gasol (sick is what I think). With that said, we could easily make a run at Ricky Rubio (I'm sure he'd be more than willing to team up with his buddies in Houston) with a possible starting lineup of: Rubio Martin Budinger Pau Marc
pau gasoft is a baby. he whines and uses the ostrich face everytime he commits a foul. i dont want that kind of player on our team. bynum would be great but i cant see the lakers sending him away unless he gets hurt again
Houston enjoys no home cooking from the referees. Gasol would not flourish and would in fact get whiplash; too much looking at the refs whenever he'd fall and get a no-call.
1. We can get a backup PG with one of our first round picks. 2. TWill would start at the 3, we could get a backup with our other first round pick.
So a guy who couldn't find the floor, or the offense, is suddenly going to be our starting 3? I guess you are assuming that whoever we get to replace Rick Adelman has an offense even a simpleton like Williams could master.
Great idea. Let's get Pau for 17 million for the next 4 years, then magically break the cap and sign gasol to a max contract, and then EASILY make a run at Rubio since nobody else in the league wants him.
The problem is, the market is not exactly saturated with good reliable PGs. Giving up a first rounder for a backup PG is not worth it, considering the fact that we are in rebuilding mode. Starting TWill would be a complete disaster. He is not even ready to be in the rotation, how could you expect him to be ready to start? I can't imagine him playing 30 minutes a game, it would be a disaster.
Personally, I'd like to keep Lowry and do something like Scola/Martin for Pau. Lee could be a solid starter for this squad (especially if there is a defensive minded coach coming in).
I'm really surprised that (ok, not really) people are considering Scola and Lowry, neither of which are all-stars, too much for a guy who i considered to be last year's Finals MVP. Especially for a team who 2 years after the fact, still only has one 6'6" Center.
Pau is the Heart and Soul of that team <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SwrYMWoqg5w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
A Gasol-Hayes front line would be NASTY! Gasol gets enough touches in the post to keep him happy and involved, while most of the tough defensive assignments can go to Hayes. Both are great passers and are a perfect complement to each other. Scola/T-will/Hill for Gasol and filler This is good for the lakers too because it allows Bynum to develop. Scola's offense is better suited for the Lakers and the production between scola and gasol at the end of the day is negligible. More importantly, Scola is as tough as nails and will always show up in the playoffs. Twill seems like the athletic pg that Phil likes to use. Hill can give them some length and youth. Gasol/Thabeet/Yao Hayes/Patterson (draft/fFA?)/Chase Martin/Lee Lowry/Dragic
That's exactly why it was termed a "crazy" idea, yet there is a little magical thing called sign&trade where we'd be left with nothing but marc's contract and then a trade alone for Pau's big one too. I'm not even 100% sure I'd want this trade anyways so I was just speaking for the masses.
