I proposed this type of thing weeks ago . . . . Even said that Capela would be a nice start to them building young Heck Three team trade sending Capela to Pheonix etc Rocket River
You're confusing a sign and trade deal with a matched RFA deal. You could sign and trade Capela. He'd certainly have to agree on it. You'd have to do that before he signed an offer sheet with another team. What you are referring to is a RFA signing and offer sheet that is subsequently matched by his current team. Then you can't trade him for a year. In a sign and trade, there's no offer sheet being signed. The player actually resigns with his current team and is immediately traded to another team. There's a special clause in the contract that says that if the player isn't traded to team "X" in the next 48hrs then the contract if void. Think of an offer sheet as a contract because that's what it is. When a player signs an offer sheet, he's agreeing to a contract and. He's then bound by that contract, it's just a matter of if that contract will be with the players current team (if they match the offer) or with the team that extended the offer (if current team doesn't match). Example: Scenario 1 - Capela is signed and traded to team "X". Capela would sign a contract with Houston. That contract would contain a clause that said that if he wasn't traded to team "X" in the next 24hrs then the contract is void. Scenario 2 - Capela signs an offer sheet with team "X". Houston chooses to match the offer sheet, now he can't be traded for a year. Make sense? In a sign and trade, Houston would actually be signing Capela to a contract. In the offer sheet scenario, another club would be signing him to a contract.
Phoenix seems to have decided to pick Ayton at #1 so I'd doubt that they have any interest in Capela. There will be BYC issues trying to sign-n-trade Capela. There are cases where it will work but it makes many of the deals impossible (like the one proposed in this thread). I assume the Rockets would prefer to acquire Lebron and retain Capela.
Dont care if or how the salaries would work, but Tristan Thompson is with Khloe Kardashian. Let's not forget what happened the last time Khloe was involved with a Rocket... need to keep that chick as far away from this franchise as possible!
lols Clint wouldn't want to go to Cleveland and Cavs are going to be in full tank mode, they wouldn't want any long term contracts.
