Everyone and their mother knew that we wanted Roy. Worst kept 'secret' in nba history. The wolves picked Roy at 6, but wanted Foye. The blazers knew about our deal to send Foye, who we would've taken at 8, for Roy, so they just took Foye at 7 and made the same trade. They outsmarted us, but if we had that 7 pick, bingo.

Count me as another guy who was pissed as hell about that Denver game. Mainly at Juwan Howard for actually playing well the one time where it was absolutely crucial for us to lose, after being terrible whenever it actually counted. Sums up his career perfectly. Same story for Rafer. It just made me sick to see them trying so hard to beat a team that wanted to lose, and then feel good about it, like they accomplished something. We got played.

And for those of you who are so vehemently against my point of view, if JVG had taken Juwan out of the lineup in crunch time, and we lost the game, would you have even cared or complained? Would have showed such vehement outrage? Somehow I doubt it.

i will never find fault in a guy who played a game to win. its as simple as that. No matter how bad a season goes, I watch a game hoping for a rockets win. Maybe i dont have high aspirations, but when I go to a game, there is very little that is more satisfying then a team which represents my hometown winning. If you ask then 10,000 rockets fan who paid for a ticket, and who were rockets fans, they enjoyed that night. It wasnt a championship, but still there are those who live in the moment. Screw all the what ifs..

I see. Roy would have been huge for this team.

Kleiza may not put another 40 spot on the board but he will have plenty of high-scoring games as long as he plays for Denver.

I'll bet he has a 25-30 point game in the next few weeks.

The same #7 pick (Randy Foye) that was originally Boston's. Portland acquired it by trading Boston Sebastain Telfair and Theo Ratliff. Portland just wasn't going to be denied that draft day. If there was ever anything considered a "draft day monster", Portland was it.

(That trade would help Boston get Kevin Garnett of course...)

Just keep Rudy Gay, a player could could have gone ahead of ANY of those guys, and you still have great consolation though.....

The record for Rockets in 2006 was 34-38, while Celtics and Timberwolves stood at 33-49. If Rockets lost that Denver game, it could be pick #6. I am not sure about the details, so please correct me.
